Ramadan: Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation gives empowerment, palliatives to widows, indigent families

One of Nigeria’s faith-based organisations, Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation (ZSF) recently put smiles on the faces of about 34 widows and 15 families.

The Foundation also gave out food items and palliatives to fasting Muslims.

The distribution which took place in Benin, Edo State had the beneficiaries cart home rice, noodles, tomatoes, vegetable oil and other items to enable them fast easily during the ongoing month of Ramadan in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Declaring the distribution exercise open while welcoming all, the State Admin Officer, Ustaz Abdul Rasheed Jatto noted that the Widows and Orphans Support is one of the numerous ways the foundation reaches out to the needy in the society.

“I humbly welcome you to this distribution exercise in this special month coupled with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This exercise is one of the numerous ways Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation reaches out to the needy in our society as it is in line with Islamic tenets.

“Aside this being the first of such in Ramadan, we also empower citizens through entrepreneurial and medical means. We also give our educational grants to indigent students in various learning institutions across the country.”

Ustaz Jatto appealed to well-to-do Muslims to continue to uphold the third pillar of Islam while urging the beneficiaries to keep praying for them and the organisation.

“One of the aims of Zakat is to eradicate poverty in the society. To this end, I call on all well-to-do and wealthy Muslims in our country to continue to pay their Zakat which is an important pillar of Islam.

“To our beneficiaries, please continue to pray for donors for Allah’s continuous Barakah for them to continue their good deeds and Allah to reward them abundantly,” he urged.
