The protagonist of the popular Turkish series, Ertuğrul, Engin Altan Duzyatan, has expressed solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter movement, over the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who was killed by the police in the United States of America.
Floyd lost his life last week while in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota, due to police brutality, Muslim News learnt.
There have been several protests in cities of the US over his death as millions of people are demanding #JusticeforFloyd and chorusing #Blacklivesmatter.
The Ertuğrul character, who also fought for social justice in accordance with Islam, posted on his verified Twitter handle, a picture of black and white kids caring for each other, with an awesome caption, “black, white, brown, rich or poor. We are all in Islam. #alllivesmatter.”

In the same vein, Esra Bilgic, the beautiful Turkish actress who played Halime Hatun, the wife of Ertuğrul, has also turned to Instagram to share a viral video of an African American girl in solidarity of the #Blacklivesmatter movement.
In a viral video shared by Esra, an African American girl was seen protesting against the denial of her rights and the killing of her three brothers.
She said, “I’m tired of being peaceful. I have lost three brothers to this, sir. Three, this is not alright. I’m hurt. You don’t see my eyes? I’m hurt. My people out here, hurt. I’m tired of this. I’m not scared to die.”
Both Edgin and Esra Bilgic have won the hearts of millions of their fans across the world, especially in Pakistan, where there are no less than 200 million viewers of Ertuğrul in 20 days.
