Muslim News Nigeria dedicates November/December, 2020 print edition to Muslims killed in Nigeria’s South-South, South-East

Let it be on record that when the Nigerian media downplayed the killings of Muslims in the South-South and South-East geopolitical zones during the #EndSARS protest, Muslim News, Nigeria’s most authoritative Islamic newspaper didn’t join in suppressing the reports of the killings. When some Nigerian journalists were only interested, in searching desperately for ‘blood’ at the Lekki Tollgate, Muslim News — as a specialised medium was identifying with the bereaved Muslim community in Orlu, Port Harcourt, Onitsha and Aba, where the blood of defenceless Muslims was flowing! Yet, the Nigerian media looked the other way, saying, the #OyigboKilling was ‘hearsay’, ‘fabrication’ — ostensibly because the victims were Muslims!

In line with our mantra, ‘If we don’t blow our trumpet, no one will do it for us’, it is my pleasure to unveil to our esteemed readers and fans across the world, the latest edition of Muslim News print version, in honour of the victims. May Allah accept them as martyrs. We’re working towards free distribution of copies to the affected communities during this week’s Jum’ah prayers, in shaa Allah. You can contribute to print more copies for free distribution in other mosques across the country.

We want to appreciate our brethren in South-East and the North for their calmness in the face of these premeditated and senseless attacks. Thank you for not taking the law into your hands in the quest to seek justice for the death of your beloved brothers, because if you had done so, the largely Islamophobic Nigeiran media would have been ‘unkind’ to you. We can only rely on Allah, and then, assist security agencies by providing information and gathering intelligence for investigation and prosecution, which we strongly believe this publication will achieve.

Long Live Islam. God bless Nigeria.
