Oluwo of Iwo makes prayer compulsory in his palace, exempts non-Muslims

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi has put a stop to all manners of activities within the precincts of his palace anytime the adhan, the Muslim call to prayer, is established.

He made the directive on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 while addressing his palace staff, including princes and chiefs.

Muslim News findings revealed that the paramount ruler of Iwo land in Osun State made the decision out of his reverence for Allah, whom the over 1.9 billion Muslim worldwide worship five times daily.

In the 48 seconds video which has gone viral on social media, Oba Akanbi said, “We all standstill while the national anthem is being recited but do not accord God the respect when a call to prayer is being established.

” In my palace, solah (prayer) is compulsory for Muslims. When it’s time for prayer, perform your ablutions and join the prayer. The gate must be closed and all other activities must be put on hold,” he added.

Oluwo, who has been involved in the reorganisation of Muslim activities since his ascension to the throne in 2015, however, gave exemption to his non-Muslim staffers, especially the Christians.

He said, “if you’re a Christian or practise other religions, it’s not a must for you to join the prayers but respect the Muslims by halting your activities till they finish praying.”

The development has earned him more respect from the Muslim community in Iwo and many of his supporters across the world, as they seek Allah’s blessing and protection for the Oluwo of Iwoland.
