Sheikh Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa has been named the Grand Mufti of Ilorin Emirate, Muslim News has learnt.
The appointment was announced by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari at the mini Durbar organised in his palace on Thursday.
Sheikh Onikijipa, popularly known as Al-Miskeen Billah is a foremost Islamic cleric in Nigeria and proprietor of Al-Amani Arabic and Islamic School in Lagos State.
He hails from Ilorin, the ancestral city of Alimi.
By the appointment, he becomes the fourth Grand Mufti of Ilorin.
The role was last held by the late Sheikh Safiyullahi Kamaldeen el-Adabiy, son of late Sheikh Muhammad Kamaldeen el-Adabiy, who was also the first Grand Mufti of Ilorin.
