It seeks no permission and it respects no fame, position or status. There is no favouritism in the Kingdom of death. It strikes with no consideration, it turns sweet smiles to bitter cries and changes a minute to hours within the twinkle of an eye. You don’t get to be at the table where death takes its decision.
The Deaths are getting much, the wise are leaving, the experienced are departing and little wonder the world is tearing apart. They were mentors, they were fathers, and loving spouses, they preached and shared love, they watered and nurtured truth as they persevered through the heat and turbulence of circumstances. Yet death does not count them worthy to be spared.
Why does death humble us, remind us and yet sting us before we recover? Why does death torture our souls despite our helplessness? Because it’s purpose is to do so, so that we may have a humble end; so that we may see the futility in negligence to the Creator, so that we may the nothingness in the vain world devoid of salvation and dedication to Allah and worship of Him alone.
The instances of death are numerous to count. The accidents won’t stop, the emergencies won’t cease, the attacks are imminent, the death in sleep has come to stay, the illness is part of life, because it’s a world of struggle. So, know that the deaths are continuous and since we are not privy to when, where and how we can only live the life of a passerby. The Strange Passerby.
Appreciate the the blessings you have in your parents before they leave because they will. Learn from the wise and elderly before they depart because they won’t be here forever. Gain Jannah through your spouses before they leave you with memories and in tears because no matter the purity of the love you share, it won’t mean a thing when the pangs of death strikes.
Above all, live a live worthy to be spoken of. Influence positively, forgive honorably, make indelible marks in ways that would impact. No matter what you strive for, if it’s not in the way of Allah it’s all a waste. Pa Dawúd Arogundade has gone to where we can meet him no more except with Du’as.
May Allah accept the soul of this faithful servant of his. We pray that Allah grant him Jannatul firdaws and take out souls only when He is pleased with us. Ameen.
