The Muslim Community of Lagos State (MCLS) has called on the Lagos State government to recruit teachers for Arabic and Islamic studies.
They made this call during the 2021 Mawlid Nabiyy jointly organised by the Muslim community in conjunction with the Union of Arabic Teachers of Nigeria.
The annual event held on Tuesday, with the theme, “2021/14333 Mawlid/Seerah Nabiyy” was held at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island, Southwest, Nigeria.
President of Union of Arabic Teachers of Nigeria Alhaji Bashar Folorunsho said recruiting teachers for the two subjects becomes imperative to curb the shortage across public schools in the state.
“This recruitment, if sincerely done, will help in grooming religiously-developed children who will grow to shun vices presently perpetrated by their contemporaries all over the world,” he said.
Alhaji Folorunsho urged parents to always monitor their children and correct strange behaviour before it gets out hand.
He enjoined the youths to shun all social vices and criminal activities.
MCLS President Prof Tajudeen Gbadamosi urged Nigerians not to forget the good examples of the Prophet Muhammad.
Prof Gbadamosi said everybody is a leader in their own capacity, hence should discharge their roles well.
“We are all leaders in our respective places and should lead well,” he said.
Chairman on the occasion Alhaji Jamiu Adeyinka enjoined parents to teach their children the right way for a better future.
