Kolenda: Organiser apologises to Oyo TESCOM for forcing Muslim students to attend crusade

The organiser of the controversial Christian crusade, Great Gospel Crusade has apologised to the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) for preaching in public schools without approval and forcing the students, including Muslims to attend the Crusade of a popular cleric, Evangelist Daniel Kolenda.

Kolenda, successor to the late Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke, arrived in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, ahead of a three-day revival taking place between today, Thursday and Saturday.

The Crusade Chairman, Rev. Israel Oladeinde’s ‘deep apology’ was contained in a letter to the TESCOM’s Chairman, on Wednesday, November 10, through the permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission, Oyo State.

Rev. Olaseinde apologised for the error, saying that it was done without the knowledge and approval of the organiser.

According to him, “We are sorry for this error as it was done without knowledge and approval. We are sensitive to the religious plurality of Oyo state and will do nothing to disturb existing harmony.”

Muslim News findings revealed that the Crusade organiser however did not apologise to the Muslim community whose children were said to have been forced to attend the crusade visit to their schools.

Apology letter

The Muslim Community of Oyo State (MUCOYOS) had earlier this week unraveled the plot by the organiser to mobilize and force Muslim students to attend the crusade.

MUCOYOS specifically pointed out that it was disheartening that on Friday 29th October, a crusade team was at Sasa Community High School, where Muslim students were deliberately disallowed from observing Jum’at service.

The group in a statement signed by the duo of Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni (Chairman) and Alhaji Murisiku Abidemi Siyanbade (Secretary-General) alleged that the Muslim students in other schools in Ibadan were kept on a special Christian evangelization assembly against their faith.
