Ogbomoso Muslim Community gets new Chief Imam

Sheikh Teliat Oluwashina Yunus has been appointed the new Chief Imam of the Muslim Community in Ogbomosoland.

Sheikh Taliat, currently the Chief Imam of Adiam Central Mosque, Abeokuta, Ogun State, was appointed on Thursday, November 11, as the 13th Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland by the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III.

Muslim News findings revealed that the new Chief Imam will be replacing Dr. Ashafa Abdulyekini Sanusi, the former Chief Imam, who died on Oct 7, 2021 at the age of 87.

Sheikh Taliat broke the news of his appointment on Facebook, saying “It is with great joy that I announce to you all, my appointment as the Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland.”

In a letter addressed to the Muslim community, Adiam Central Mosque, Iporo-Ake, Abeokuta, Imam Taliat wrote, “About a month ago, after the demise of the late Imam of Ogbomosoland, I was beckoned by my family to fill the position. After a long process of screening, I was appointed today, 11th November 2021 by the Soun of Ogbomosoland as the 13th Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland.

“This is a rare privilege to propagate Islam and I beseech the Almighty Allah for his guidance and mercy as I embark on this journey.

“I must sincerely appreciate the very rare privilege I was afforded by Alhaji Sulaimon Ayinla, the Custodian of Adiam Memorial Central Mosque to lead the congregation for the last ten years, may the Almighty reward you abundantly.

“To my congregants in Adiam, Iporo-Ake and Abeokuta, it has been an honour to share the words of Allah and His Prophet (S.A.W) with you for the past ten years. May the Almighty keep the congregation together and bless you all. Amin. Jazakumullahu Khairan,” he added.
