In his words, “According to the practice of The Muslim Congress, the Waali and Secretary are appointed and they have the responsibility to set up their cabinet. We had a shurah and Alhamdulillah, we have selected about 26 members into different capacities. We are set up to reform the society and that cannot be done by an individual. Our vision is to be a foremost organisation guiding, influencing and setting agenda for societal reformation in line with the Qur’an and Sunnah.

“We have set a 5-point agenda for our administration. Da’wah for everyone, welfare, education, empowerment, projects among which is the Youth Development Center, among others.

“We also have an external affairs office that set out to see how we can collaborate with other Islamic organisations to achieve the goal of reforming the society. We are all brothers as Islam has taught us”, he noted.

Rajab is for the planting of seed – Sheikh Omotunde

Speaking on the duties of Muslims in Rajab, the seventh month of the Islamic calendar, the head, Da’wah and Research Unit, TMC headquarters, Sheikh Abdulwaheed Omotunde said it’s a sacred month and it’s important for Muslims to do a lot of good deeds in the month of Rajab.

Sheikh Omotunde

According to him, “Allah called our attention to the importance of this month in the Qur’an as a sacred month. Upon entering the month, we pray to Allah. The month is mainly to start planting, while Sha’ban, the 8th month is for watering it and the glorious month of Ramadan, 9th month, is for harvesting.

“We should start practising good deeds, both obligatory and voluntary in terms of Solaah, fasting, nawaafil, sodaqah and others. All of these should be done according to the teaching of Islam. This is a way of making the body get used to it. While we do these, we should also encourage and teach others to do same in the many ways available such as lectures and support the cause of Allah”, he emphasised.

Your health is key, normalise regular checkup – Dr. Kamiyo

On the necessity of regular medical checkups, a medical practitioner and head, The Congress Professionals, TMC headquarters, Dr. Yusuf Kamiyo buttressed the need to pay attention to healthy wellbeing.

“Checking the body is as essential as the body itself. It helps us know what is wrong and how to quickly treat it and be hale. Some medical issues people are battling with is as a result of the late discovery. If discovered earlier, the needed attention would be given and the problem averted. The checkup also makes us know what we need to stop in terms of activities, food and others.

Dr. Kamiyo

“We check our eyes, heart, sugar level, blood and even tests on HIV, cancer and others. Generally, we should drink enough water, eat fruits and vegetables, exercise and do medical checkups at least once in a year”, he advised.
