The 10th Misbaudeen Islamic Centre’s Pre-Ramadan Lecture took place on Sunday 27th March, 2022 at Jubril Martins Memorial High School, Iloro-Agege, Lagos.

According to many of the attendees interviewed by Muslim News after the programme, this year’s edition, under the chairmanship of the Baba Adinni of Lagos, Sheikh AbdulHafeez Abou, CFR was quite educative and impactful.

The Chief Host and Managing Director, Silver Feeds Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Musbaudeen Bolarinwa said the essence of the gathering was to remind Muslims of their responsibilities towards the blessed month of Ramadan.

“As humans, we are forgetful in nature. That is why it is very important that we remind ourselves about the essence of the holy month of Ramadan and current issues around the world,” he said, while speaking with our correspondent.

He urged Muslims to do regular health checks so as to be in best state for the month. “I also advise people to form the habit of donating blood voluntarily in order to help those in need of blood.

Dr. Mustapha Bello of Lagos State University, delivered the first lecture on “Averting Catastrophic Wars: Islamic Precepts for Attainment of National and Global Peace while Prof. Ibrahim Olatunde Uthman spoke on “The Menace of Ritual Killings: Islamic Solutions.”

Baba Adinni of Lagos, Sheikh AbdulHafeez Abou, Prince Tajudeen Olusi and Imam AbdulAkeem Uwaiz Akewusola, Chief Imam of Badagry at the pre-Ramadan lecture organised by Misbaudeen Islamic Centre in Lagos on Sunday.

AlMufassir, Lagos Central Mosque and Chairman, Lagos State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Imam Shakiru Ayinde Giwa talked on the Health Benefits of Fasting.

Alhaji Bolarinwa urged Muslims to take advantage of the lecture to prepare themselves spiritually, emotionally, physically and health-wise for the coming Ramadan.

Alhaji Bolarinwa said the theme was carefully chosen in view of the developments and challenges in our society.

According to him, the pre-Ramadan lecture is to remind and guide Muslims on the significance of the holy month.

Speaking on the health benefits of Ramadan, Chairman, Lagos Pilgrims Welfare Board and Mufassir, Lagos Central Mosque, Alhaji Mofesaiye reminded the audience that fasting reduces blood sugar, helps with inflammation, enhances heart health as neurons won’t degenerate easily, controls hormone secretion, delays aging process apart from stopping us from engaging in sins.

“Because Muslims are no longer doing all these, they are now powerless. Hence, we need to do the needful.”

Talking about the positive roles of Sheikh AbdulHafeez Abou, Baba Adinni of Lagos, to the development of Islam in Lagos and Nigeria in general, Hajia Sekinah Temitope Lawal, the immediate past Chairperson, Women Journalists, Lagos Chapter eulogised the highly respected and distinguished Islamic scholar from a noble lineage of Imams and religious devotees, saying that he has been a great asset to Muslims in Lagos particularly, in Nigeria in general and all over the world too.

“His past and present activities are sufficient testimonies in this regard in his almost 100years of sojourn on earth.”

Hajia Lawal urged youths to emulate Sheikh Abou in actions and words, because in education, baba groomed some of the best minds and captain of industries of our beloved country.

“In religion and all human endeavours, he is a role model that coming generations should emulate. Sheikh Abou served nobly. His contributions towards school establishment was exemplary.

Hajia Lawal called on youths to copy Sheikh Abou in knowledgeable and correct intellectual dispositions while drinking from his ocean of knowledge and wisdom.

According to her, other traits youths should emulate from Sheikh Abou include embodiment of peace, being free from scandals and ill-reports because he is a man of integrity, honour, honesty, humility, modesty and very unassuming.

“He is very patient and disciplined with a lot of self-restraint. He is ever content with the provisions of his Lord and ever grateful to Him. He lives a very simple and decent life. He is a polished gentleman with rich international experience and contacts.”

Sheikh Muhammad Qasim Alalukinba, Prof. Ibrahim Olatunde, Dr Mustapha Bello and Prof. Tajudeen Yusuf at the 10th Pre-Ramadan lecture organised by Misbaudeen Islamic Centre in Lagos on Sunday.”There are so many positive impacts our young generation and grown-ups too can imbibe from our Baba. These include moral virtues, religious qualities and quest for knowledge.”

While delivering his lecture, Prof. Ibrahim Olatunde Uthman condemned the various forms of ritual killings, war and uprising going on in the world including the Boko Haram debacle.

He therefore called for love, peace and harmony in our various communities.

Dr. Bello stated that the world is ready for Islam if only Muslims are ready to lead and do what is right, the world will follow us.

“Muslims once ruled the world when they were just and feared Allah.

Muslim nations must unite and support one another. If we are not united, we cannot lead the world.

Leaders should safeguard the interest of the weak in the society while Islamic organisations should stop internal wranglings.” He concluded.
