MSSN member wins Lagos best teacher award, gets N20k reward

• He is worth more than that meagre amount, Nigerians react

• I didn’t do all I did for any reward or cash – Winner, Adekoya

– A dedicated Muslim teacher, Mal. Adekoya Raheem has been awarded a monetary reward of N20,000

– Taking to Facebook, the young man appreciated his teacher and mother for how they have impacted his life

–;Many people congratulated Raheem as some argued that the money given to him should have been more to celebrate him.

A brilliant Muslim teacher, Mal. Adekoya Raheem, has been celebrated online after he emerged the best performing teacher at Education District IV in Lagos state in 2022.

Raheem who is a teacher at Sanya Senior Grammar School, Ijeshatedo, Surulere Lagos shared a photo of himself holding a celebratory dummy cheque of N20,000 presented to him by Action for Change and Empowerment, an organisation affiliated with the government.

The young dedicated teacher who was visibly happy in his photo dedicated the award to his teachers and lovely mother.

Many Nigerians took to his comment section to rejoice with him as some said that that the N20,000 is too small to honour a teacher.

See his post below:

Congratulations my dear brother. This is a lofty feat. Although, the amount is ridiculously ridiculous where huge sums in millions are being presented to winners of frivolous programs in this country. I know you won’t get discouraged. May Allah grant you more success in all you do, sir. – Lanre Oyebanji

Congratulations to our Teacher and Leader💯. May the Almighty bless and lift you beyond human imagination.
No amount can prove your worth. We are proud of you, sir. – King Mujtabah Akinola

Congratulations. May the sky be your stepping stone and never the end of your success. Sincerely speaking, you worth more than this because we are witnesses to what they give to the winners in the nonsense they call BBNAIJA. When will our so-called leaders wake up from their slumber? Enough of eulogising fornicators, if they give 5,000,000 each to the best teacher in each district, I don’t believe it’s too much – Hakeem Bello

• I didn’t do all I did for any reward or cash – Winner, Adekoya

The awardee, while speaking with Muslim News on Friday, expressed his surprise, as he never saw the award coming, adding that, “On that day, I only went to the district because I was invited for a seminar there.”

When asked how he felt about the cash prize of N20k, Mal. Adekoya noted that he appreciates it, as he did not even see it coming.

He said, “As much as I appreciate the prize, I think it’s important to note that I didn’t do all I did for any reward or cash, because teaching is a calling and whoever chooses to answer the call should do it wholeheartedly.

“Whether teachers get rewarded or appreciated on earth or not, great reward awaits them in the hereafter.”

According to him, “I was nominated and selected because of my passion for for mentoring, volunteering and community development services over a long period of time. It didn’t happen overnight, but for the fact that I have been able to groom students who have excelled their contemporaries in Lagos, Nigeria and the world at large”.
