The new Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has appointed Dr. Habibat Omolara Adubiaro, as the Secretary to the State Government.
Her appointment, which was contained in statement signed by the Head of Service, Mr. Bamidele Agbede, on Sunday, takes immediate effect.
The second appointee by the Governor was Mr. Yinka Oyebode, as the Chief Press Secretary. He served the immediate past governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi in that capacity for eight years (first and second terms).
Adubiaro, the current President of Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria, Ekiti State Chapter, was a Special Adviser under the first term of former governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose.
Muslim News findings revealed that she is the second Muslim in Ekiti State to occupy the position since Nigeria transitioned from military to civilian rule in 1999.
The first was Alhaji (Dr.) Ganiyu Owolabi, a veterinary doctor who hails from Ilupeju Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area of the State.
He was appointed by the immediate former governor, Mr. Kayode Fayemi during his first term in office (2010-2014).
Before Alhaja Adubiaro’s appointment, the Muslims in Ekiti state have protested against marginalisation. They accused successive governments of excluding them from the fundamental aspect of decision making process in the state.
The appointment of FOMWAN’s Amirah in the state has been praised by the Muslims who believe that the community will be represented in subsequent appointments by the Oyabanji-led government.
