Oro worshippers invade mosque in Ile-Ife, attack Imam, congregation

There was commotion in Ilare, a community in Ile-Ife, Osun State on Thursday, when some daredevil Oro adherents invaded Idi Omoh Mosque, macheted the imam and the congregation mercilessly with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons during afternoon prayer (SalatuI Asr).

The gory and unfortunate incident occurred the same day Muslim students were denied and prevented from writing JAMB mock examinations at Covenant University CBT Center, Ota, over their use of hijab.

Muslim News reports that despite the fact that Covenant University has a right to prescribe mode of dressing, it loses the right to such exclusive privilege when it applies to serve as one of JAMB UTME CBT centers that play host to the cosmopolitan multireligious candidates.

Islamophobic attacks from Christians and idol worshippers have been prevalent in the southwest region of Nigeria with the authorities doing little or nothing to protect the mosques and Muslims who have hitherto lived in peace with their non-Muslim neighbours over the years. Detail shortly…
