Türkiye Diyanet Foundation has inaugurated 8 water wells in Sokoto state of Nigeria as part of the water well and foundation fountain project with the slogan “A Drop of Life”.
The ceremony, held on the occasion of the opening of water wells and fountains, was attended by TDV representatives, regional chiefs, religious officials, and many invited guests.
Each water well and foundation opened by TDV, equipped with a 10,000-liter capacity solar-powered reservoir, will benefit the local community in the region.
In his statement, TDV Abuja Religious Affairs Counselor Hüseyin Ortaç emphasized that the water wells and fountains were constructed with the support of the Turkish people.
Ortaç expressed that the Turkish people hold a special attachment for Africa, stating that Türkiye will continue to stand by the Nigerian people, just as it has done before.
The water wells opened in the villages brought great joy among the local population, who had been struggling daily to obtain drinking water.
The service aims to reduce the risks of diseases caused by contaminated drinking water and the challenges related to inadequate hygiene conditions resulting from difficulties accessing water in the region.
