An Imam with The Nation Newspaper, Mallam Abdul Wasiu Zakariyyah Adeyemi, has returned to his Creator, Allah.
Aged 55, Adeyemi, a Chief Sub-Editor of Sporting Life of the newspaper, died in the early hours of Sunday, July 16, 2023 after a protracted illness.
Muslim News gathered that he has since been buried at the Muslim cemetery in the Agege area of Lagos on Sunday in accordance to Islamic rites.
Adeyemi was described as a students’ advocate as he was involved in granular engagements with students at all levels, always aiming to get the best out of them and himself.
He had a BA and an MSc in English Language from the University of Ibadan and was about to defend his PhD dessertation at the Lagos State University, LASU, before he came down with the brief illness.
He loved teaching, especially calling people to the path of Islam.
He once taught English Language at Vanguards Academy, Odosengolu, Ogun State as a teacher before he joined The Nations Newspaper in 2007.
Born in April, 1968, Imam Adeyemi is survived by children and two wives.
