In the radiant tapestry of the University of Salford’s Class of 2023, a narrative shines like constellations in the night sky – the tale of Zaynab Morenikeji Atitebi, a distinguished graduate from the Data Science department. Originating from a background in chemical and petroleum engineering, she defied norms, wielding her expertise in the realm of data, truly an outlier in her own right.
Her journey unfolds with resilience, focus, commitment, and a pursuit of excellence. Beginning with an online bootcamp, she ventured into the creation of a remarkable Data Analytics course. Undeterred, she pursued further growth, earning a certificate in Data Science, marking each step with determination and zeal.
Zaynab’s academic odyssey paints a portrait of an extraordinary individual. A graduate in chemical engineering from Ladoke Akintola University, she sought new horizons at the Africa University of Science and Technology, Abuja, where she earned a master’s in Petroleum Engineering on scholarship. Traditionally a male-dominated field, she embraced the challenge. Now, she stands as a distinguished alumna of the University of Salford, where she completed her second Master’s degree, excelling in Data Science with a well-deserved distinction.
Hailing from a humble background, Zaynab – the first daughter of Engr. Atitebi, a renowned Islamic scholar and one-time Amir of The Muslim Congress, TMC, wears the hijab with pride – a symbol of her identity. A proud Nigerian from Abeokuta North, Ogun State, a devoted wife, and a loving mother, her story is a testament to the power of determination, breaking barriers and achieving excellence against the odds.
