The countdown to the 4th edition of the International Halal Seminar has commenced in Nigeria.

Organised by the Halal Certification Authority (HCA), the seminar brings stakeholders in the halal industry, both within and outside the country, to deliberate on emerging issues.

Speaking at a press conference where details of the event were announced, Chairman of Halal Certification Authority, Prof. Ibrahim Oreagba, said the seminar marks a significant milestone in HCA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the global understanding and implementation of halal standards across various industries.

Prof. Oreagba, the immediate past Head, Department of Pharmacology Therapeutics and Toxicology, College of Medicine University of Lagos (CMUL) revealed that the much-anticipated seminar will hold on August 14, 2024 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja.

“The halal industry has witnessed remarkable growth over the past few years, not only in food and beverages but also in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, logistics, tourism and other halal ecosystem. This growth underscores the increasing demand for halal products and services, reflecting the expanding Muslim population and the rising awareness of halal principles among consumers of all backgrounds,” the Chairman stated.

Prof. Oreagba noted that the theme highlights his organisation’s commitment to fostering growth, development, innovation and sustainability within the halal industry.

“We recognise that to meet the evolving needs of consumers and address global challenges, it is essential to integrate sustainable practices and cutting-edge technologies into our operations.”

Presentations will be made at the seminar by diverse speakers, including industry experts, scholars, and business leaders, who will share their insights and experiences on the latest advancements in halal certification processes, emerging trends in halal products, and the role of technology in enhancing the transparency and efficiency of halal supply chains.

Muslim News learnt that a masterclass addressing Halal Assurance Systems is also part of the lineup for the seminar.

According to Prof. Oreagba, “One of the key objectives of this seminar is to facilitate meaningful dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders. By bringing together professionals from different sectors and regions, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the halal industry.

“We believe that through collective efforts, we can develop innovative solutions that not only uphold the integrity of Halal standards but also contribute to the global goal of sustainability.”

The HCA Chairman encouraged active participation from the public, calling on them to share valuable insights and forge new partnerships that will drive the halal industry forward.

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to sponsors, partners, and people who have participated over the years.

“Your dedication to promoting the halal industry is truly commendable, and I am confident that your contributions will have a lasting impact. Together, we can create a future where halal principles are not only upheld but also celebrated for their contributions to a healthier, more ethical, and sustainable world,” he said.
