The Companion, an association of Muslim men in business and the professions, is hosting its 2024 Conference and 6th National Discourse early this month of August.
This is contained in a press statement jointly signed by Muideen Adeleke, Chairman of the Media, Mobilization and Publicity Sub-Committee, and Tajudeen Balogun, Secretary of the National Planning Committee.
This year’s edition of the Discourse which is one of the means the organisation lends its voice on national issues of interest is themed: “Between Patriotism And Self-Preservation” and is expected to feature a lecture, titled: “Dilemma Of The Nigerian Youth: Challenges At Home, Uncertainties Abroad”.
The Chairman of the upcoming public lecture, according to the release, is the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
The statement indicated that the Keynote Speaker is the Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim; the Guest Speaker is the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa; while the Co-Speaker is the immediate past Vice Chancellor, University of Abuja, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah.
Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Joint Admission Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour.
The statement added that the upcoming edition of the programme is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the auditorium of the National University Commission NUC Auditorium, Maitama District, Abuja, at 10:00 am.
The Discourse will have in attendance The Companion members, from its existing six Districts, including Abuja, Lagos, Oyo, Kwara, Osun and Cross River states.
It is also expected to attract businessmen, captains of industries, government functionaries, non-governmental organizations, academics and students, among others.
According to the statement, the Discourse will be immediately followed by a non-elective conference.
Members are expected to depart Abuja for their various bases early Sunday morning.
