Al-Mu’minaat congratulates Kekere-Ekun as acting CJN, says appointment, significant milestone

The national leadership of Al-Mu’minaat (The Believing Women) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Justice Kudirat Motonmori Kekere-Ekun on her recent appointment as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

Justice Kekere-Ekun was sworn-in as the acting CJN on Friday, 30th August by President Bola Tinubu at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja.

She succeeds Justice Kayode Ariwoola, who retired on August 22, to become the second female Chief Justice of Nigeria after Justice Aloma Mukhtar, who held the position between July 2012 and November 2014 when she retired.

In a statement signed on Saturday, 7th September by its national Amirah, Hajia Jelilat AbdulHamid, the leading female organisation described the appointment as a significant milestone, saying it underscores Justice Kekere-Ekun’s remarkable career and her outstanding contributions to the legal profession.

She said, “Justice Kekere-Ekun’s elevation to this esteemed position is a testament to her unwavering dedication to justice and her profound understanding of the law. Her steadfast commitment to fairness and equity has earned her immense respect and admiration.

“Al-Mu’minaat is confident that Justice Kekere-Ekun will continue to uphold the principles of integrity and excellence that have defined her career.

“Her appointment is a recognition of her professional achievements and her steadfast commitment to the rule of law.

She further said Al-Mu’minaat believes that the appointment of Justice Kekere-Ekun is both timely and necessary for Nigeria.

According to her, “As the second woman to hold this prestigious position, Justice Kekere-Ekun is poised to inspire all women in Nigeria, especially Muslim women, by serving the cause of justice without fear or favor.

“Al-Mu’minaat is proud that another Muslim woman has been deemed fit to serve as CJN and is optimistic that Nigeria’s judiciary will flourish under her leadership, truly becoming the last hope of the common man.

“Al-Mu’minaat eagerly anticipates the positive impact Justice Kekere-Ekun will have on the judiciary and the advancement of justice in our nation. May Almighty Allah ease all her affairs in this new role and make it a source of blessings for her on the Day of Judgment.

“God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Wa Salam Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh”, she added.
