In a heartwarming display of pride, accomplishment and celebration, Al-Qurraa’ Schools recently marked the 2024 World Teachers’ Day with her members of staff.
Teachers’ Day is a global event held annually on 5th October to celebrate, acknowledge and appreciate the dedication and contributions of teachers across the world to education and the society at large.
To commemorate the day, Muslim News gathered that Al-Qurraa’ College situated at Road 12, Achievers 1 Estate, Arihan Bus Stop, Camp Area, Ido Road Ibadan, held a spectacular picnic for the teachers at Palms Mall, Challenge Ibadan on Saturday, 5th October 2024.
The picnic marked a significant milestone for the teachers, highlighting the roles they play in imparting knowledge to the students and by setting up a situation in which they learn effectively.
Some of the activities to mark the day included teachers experience at Al-Qurraa’ Schools, quiz competition, cash gifts, and varieties of special delicacies.
The event was rounded off with a shopping spree for the teachers, their spouses and children in the mall.
It was a memorable event, as each member of staff felt honoured and appreciated for being a teacher.
Speaking at the event, the Director of the prestigious College, Imam AbdulHafeez Ariremako, rejoiced with his staff, Nigerians and teachers across the world.
He called on government at all levels and private school owners to consider the upscaling of teachers’ remuneration to boost their morale and live up with the current economic realities.
According to him, “Teaching is not encouraging in this part of the world. The kind of money teachers take home at the end of the month is not commensurate with the sacrifice they make in imparting knowledge to the students.
“Whereas, without good teachers, the future of a nation will be gloomy and jeopardized. We need to encourage and make teaching appealing by giving teachers the respect, honour and value they deserve.
“Most importantly, they must be well remunerated. It has to start somewhere and this is my little effort as a demonstration of what I advocate through Al-Qurraa’ Schools.”
Imam Ariremako, who also owns an Al-Qurraa’ Tahfeez School for Quranic Memorisation and Arabic School, stated further that the rationale behind the initiative of celebrating teachers specially was borne out of the need for teachers to also enjoy the same privilege that their counterparts in other fields enjoy.
Al-Qurraa’ Tahfeez School for Quranic Memorisation is situated at Ekerin Area, Ologuneru Ibadan while Al-Qurraa’ Arabic School (a weekend Madrasah is located at Lakanpo Area, Off Gbopa Ologuneru Ibadan.
He appealed to the government and other stakeholders to rise up to the occasion by ensuring teachers are paid living wage.

In recounting his experience Mr Toyyib MutiuLlahi, who teaches Physics stated that “Working in Al-Qurraa’ is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Even though I had worked in more than five schools before joining Al-Qurraa’.
Also, Mr Ridwan Arogundade, a Mathematics teacher, was filled with joy and happiness in his conversation with our correspondent. He said, “I wish I had joined Al-Qurraa’ long before now”.
Mrs Shukrah Olasupo, a junior class teacher, said that it had always been her dream to work in Al-Qurraa’ and she’s grateful that it has been fulfilled.
In his remarks, the principal of the College, Mr Alaka Abdulhakeem, said, “Alhamdulillaah. Yesterday (Saturday, 5th October) was World Teachers’ Day. My team and I were celebrated beyond imagination.
“Come to think of it, I have worked with two multinational companies in Nigeria and I have never been celebrated, cherished, pampered and honoured the way I and my team were celebrated yesterday. Even my family at home were also celebrated beyond imagination,” he noted.
In his appreciation, Mr Ajala Muhammad, Head of Business Department, applauded the Proprietor for the cordial relationship and welfare showered on the members of staff of the school.
He said, “On behalf of my department, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful outing in celebration of World Teacher’s Day. Your thoughtful gesture made the day truly special and memorable for all of us.
“We deeply appreciate your commitment to recognizing and honoring hard work and dedication of teachers. The outing not only allowed us to relax and enjoy ourselves, but it also fostered a sense of unity and belonging within the Al Qurraa’ community.
“Thank you for valuing our contributions and for making us feel appreciated. We look forward to continuing our work with renewed energy and enthusiasm, knowing that our efforts are acknowledged by such a supportive and caring management team,” he added.
