Fountain University ranks among top 40 institutions in Nigeria

Fountain University, Osogbo

• Emerges only Muslim private university to make list

Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State is one of the 40 best universities in Nigeria, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024.

The Osogbo-based tertiary institution is the only Muslim private university that made the list.

It placed 33rd on the list that includes first generation federal universities, a couple of state-owned universities, and some private institutions.

Muslim News gathered that the Times Higher Education World University Rankings evaluates universities using a wide range of performance metrics.

The ranking surveyed a total of 1,907 universities in 108 countries of the world. They were assessed based on 18 key performance indicators covering five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.

Fountain University outperformed some state-owned universities and fellow private universities, including Nasarawa State University, Keffi; Plateau State University, Bokkos; Landmark University, Omu-Aran; and Veritas University, Abuja.

Muslim News reports that apart from Fountain University that got a spot in the ranking, there are many other private Muslim universities scattered across Nigeria. Some of them are: Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin; Summit University, Offa; Crescent University, Abeokuta; and Al-Qalam University Katsina (AUK), the first Islamic University and the only not-for-profit university in Nigeria.
