Muslim students have been urged to don their hijab with dignity and refrain from ungodly activities, as they clad themselves in God’s choicest garb.
The charge came during the Sisters’ Seminar of MSSN Orile-Agege Area Council held at Saka Tinubu Memorial High School, Agege, on Saturday, 8th February 2025.
The Amirah, MSSN, Orile-Agege Area Council, Hajia Rahmah Sanni disclosed that the theme, “To the One I Belong” was chosen to remind Muslim sisters that they belong to Allah alone, and should do everything for His sake.

She said: “Due to the problem we have lately, students want to belong to one association, fellowship or order, whether good or bad. They engross themselves in practices of these groups without reflecting on the consequences or implications. So, MSSN as a society that concerns itself with the all-around development of Muslim students, has taken as a point of duty to call them back to order, especially the Muslims among them.
“Hence, our programmes today have two segments. The first, which is on the theme, is aimed at awakening God-consciousness, while the second segment is meant for us to discuss issues surrounding the hijab as they affect our area council. The students have made us understand that they have some in their schools, and we want them to know that the hijabis should not be silenced. They should learn to register their displeasures constructively and seek redress where necessary.”
Guest Lecturer Hajia Zulfah Adeleye admonished that hijabis should know that they belong to Allah, identify righteous organisations, and associate with such.
She said: “Vices and misplacement of priority are the orders of the day in this current dispensation. Many don’t even know where to belong. That’s why they are admonished to be able to decide where to belong and where not to. As sisters, we should be conscious of the fact that the actions we take can make or mar us. Moreover, we’re all accountable to our Lord, Allah. Where we belong will also determine whether we’ll live a purpose-driven life or not.
“We should know that we all belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. He created us for a reason, which is to serve Him. That alone will make us serve Him, lead our lives according to His dictates, and make our existence purposeful and impactful.
“We have to be intentional about being among the righteous ones because sequestration is very dangerous. Looking at the trend of things lately, one would realise that it is very easy to fall prey to opportunists and the numerous vices out there, even as a conscious Muslim. So, a lot of care and caution is needed.”
She urged individuals, especially sisters to know who they are and what they want in life, as it will guide their relationship with association.
Hajia Hamdala Musa, who spoke on Hijabis Unsilenced, thanked Allah for increasing awareness on hijab, amidst series of furore that threaten.
She said: “Alhamdulillah! More people are beginning to use the hijab in our area council, despite the victimisation against hijabis. The hijab is standing and waxing stronger.”
Stressing enlightenment on hijab, she said, “Recently, some students within our area council committed a lot of atrocities, and that’s due to negative exposure to the internet. Hence, we decided to sensitise them, what to do and what not to do with the hijab.”
She added that: “Sisters should learn to speak up, especially because of hijab. They should learn to remain unsilenced.”
Some of the sisters who attended the programme submitted that the programme was value-packed. They lauded MSSN for the initiative, stating that it was much needed and relatable.
Halima Usman, a student in SSS3 said that, “The programme was really invaluable. I’ve learnt a lot here today and the lessons will help me a lot.”
Also expressing her thoughts about the event, Naseebah Abdul-Waheed said she enjoyed the programme.
“It was really interesting and inspiring,” she added.
