In a rare and heartening gesture of recognition, the Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society has publicly commended Professor Is-haq O. Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), for his exemplary leadership and transparency in addressing the recent technical glitch that disrupted the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In a letter dated 17 Dhul Qa’adah 1446 AH (May 15th, 2025), signed by the National Chief Imam, Imam Fuad Adeyemi, the Society expressed profound appreciation for Professor Oloyede’s courage and humility in publicly admitting the system error and issuing a nationwide apology.
The group described the move as “bold, transparent, and commendable,” noting that such acts of accountability are rare among public officials in Nigeria.
“Your action stands as a powerful testament to integrity, accountability, and humility in a system where cover-ups are often the norm,” the letter read.
“We are immensely proud of you as a worthy ambassador of Islam. Your conduct continues to project the values of our faith, especially in promoting honesty, responsibility and service to the people before the eyes of the nation and the world.”
The Society, known for its advocacy of good governance and ethical leadership, called for a thorough investigation into the glitch, urging that any individuals or groups responsible be held accountable. They emphasized that such steps would restore public trust and deter future errors or acts of sabotage.
The letter concluded with prayers for divine guidance and strength for the Registrar as he continues his service to the nation.
The 2025 UTME glitch, which affected the release of results for thousands of candidates, sparked nationwide concerns. However, Professor Oloyede’s swift acknowledgment and handling of the situation have drawn widespread praise, with the Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society’s letter now adding a powerful religious and moral endorsement of his leadership style.
