MSSNLagos rallies youth for Nigeria’s sustainable future

* Set to host 2025 annual conference

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit (MSSNLagos), is set to host its 2025 Annual Conference with a strong focus on leveraging Nigeria’s untapped potential for sustainable growth and development.

In an official statement, the Muslim students body announced that the conference will take place between Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22, 2025, starting at 10 a.m. daily.

The venue is the Oluremi Tinubu Auditorium, Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Ijanikin.

Themed “Optimizing the Nation’s Potential for Sustainable Growth and Development”, the two-day event aims to inspire youth-led discourse around the country’s long-term stability and prosperity in the face of pressing national issues.

Renowned Professor of Public Law at Lagos State University, Prof. Funminiyi Adeleke, will deliver the keynote address, while Dr. Sulaiman Ogunmuyiwa, Lead Consultant at M-Solutions International Consulting Limited, will serve as the special guest speaker.

Speaking ahead of the conference, MSSNLagos Amir, Kamoldeen Abiona, emphasized the urgency of the theme: “We are at a turning point in our nation’s history. It is imperative that youth-led conversations shape the solutions to our pressing development challenges. This conference will spotlight such dialogues.”

The Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee, Yusuf Okewale, added that the event will go beyond talk: “This is more than an event; it is a movement. We expect robust contributions from our speakers and participants as we explore the link between responsible leadership and national progress.”

The society also called on the Nigerian government at all levels to live up to its constitutional obligations, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of security and justice.

In a show of solidarity, MSSNLagos extended heartfelt condolences to the people of Benue State over the recent killing of more than 200 civilians in violent attacks.

“We’re very heartbroken over this incident. We send our deep condolences and we pray that God console all the bereaved families at this difficult time. Our fervent prayers are with you,” the statement read.

Long known for grassroots empowerment, MSSNLagos says it will use the conference to deepen capacity building at the local level—across its central branches, secondary schools, and higher institutions.

The annual conference is expected to draw youth leaders, scholars, policymakers, and professionals committed to building a better, more sustainable Nigeria.
