Baba Adeen of Lagos, MAF, Ogun APC running mate, MTN CFO storm Imodi-Ijebu turbanning Saturday

Prominent Muslim leaders, scholars, politicians and business executives will attend the Imodi-Ijebu Muslim Community turbaning ceremony on October 10, featuring 20 Islamic titles and a ₦1 billion fundraising drive for education and empowerment.

The list of prominent Muslim leaders, scholars, political figures, professionals and business executives expected at the Imodi-Ijebu Muslim Community turbaning ceremony in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State has continued to grow.

Joining the growing list are the Baba Adeen of Lagos, Alhaji Sikiru Alabi-Macfoy; Lagos State Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai; and Vice President of the Northern States Council of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Alhaji Najeemdeen Usman Yasin.

Also expected are the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mabtech Electrical Engineering Services Limited, Alhaji Engr Abdul Waheed Yusuf, MNSE; MTN Nigeria Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, Mr Modupe Kadri, popularly known as MAK; and the Ogun State APC Deputy Governorship candidate, Alhaja Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun.

The personalities are expected at the ceremony on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Tititlayo Agbaje Memorial Comprehensive High School (TAMCO), where 20 distinguished sons and daughters of the community will be turbaned.

The event, which begins at 10am, will feature the installation of 20 Muslim community leaders into various Islamic titles as well as a ₦1 billion fundraising drive for education and empowerment.

Muslim News gathered that the latest additions join prominent personalities earlier announced for the ceremony, including Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi; Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule; and President of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo.

Also on the earlier list are the National Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh AbdurRahman Ahmad; Grand Mufti of the Conference of Islamic Organisations, Sheikh Dhikrullah Shafi’i; and former Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Olakunle Hassan.

20 Muslim leaders to receive titles

Among those to be honoured is former Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Science, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Dr Chief Abdulfattah Owolabi Olufowobi, who will receive the Baba Adeen of Imodi-Ijebu title.

Senior Correspondent with The Nation Newspaper and National Secretary General of the University of Lagos Muslim Alumni, UMA, Alhaji Tajudeen Adegboyega Adebanjo, will receive the Giwa Adeen of Imodi-Ijebu title.
Retired Director of Procurement at NAHCON, Alhaji Ishaq Sanni, is to be honoured as Aare Adeen of Imodi-Ijebu.

Other nominees include Alhaja Hafsat Gbadamosi as Otun Iya Sunnah; Chief Ibraheem Opeyemi Mustapha as Otun Arowasadinni; Chief Araazim Ambali as Akeweje Adeen; Alhaji Abdul Wakeel Akorede Baoku as Alatunse Adeeni; Alhaja Sherifat Epenuse as Iyalode Adeen; Alhaja Arowolo Risikat, also known as Alawofin, as Otun Asiwaju Adeen Obirin; and Chief Abdul Mojeed Agbaje as Otun Mogaji Adeen.

The titles are expected to confer responsibilities on the recipients to contribute to the spiritual, educational and social development of the Muslim community, strengthen community leadership and support initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of Imodi-Ijebu Muslims.

₦1 billion fundraising for education, empowerment

A major highlight of the ceremony is the ₦1 billion fundraising initiative for education and empowerment.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening educational opportunities and creating avenues for empowerment within the community, particularly for young people.

It is also expected to support projects designed to promote sustainable development and improve the welfare of members of the Muslim community.

The fundraising drive forms part of the community’s broader effort to invest in human capital and build a stronger future for Imodi-Ijebu.

Imodi-Ijebu’s Islamic heritage

Imodi-Ijebu has a long history of Islam, with Islamic scholarship, worship and education playing important roles in the development of the community.

The growth of Islam in the community has been sustained through the contributions of Imams, scholars, families and community leaders who supported religious education and the establishment of Muslim institutions.

Over the years, the Muslim community has also placed emphasis on unity, moral development, education and service while maintaining its relationship with the wider Imodi-Ijebu community.
