The search for measures to address the crimes of repeated incidents of desecration and burning of copies of al-Mushaf ash-Sharif in the Kingdoms of #Sweden and #Denmark is expected to top the agenda of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 78), Muslim News can authoritatively confirm.
The Secretary-General of the Organisation, His Excellency, Hissein Brahim Taha, made the disclosure in a series of tweets posted on OIC Twitter page on Monday, as monitored by Muslim News.
His Excellency Brahim Taha has already arrived in New York, the United States of America, USA, with a high-level delegation from the General Secretariat of the OIC to participate in the proceedings at the UNGA78, which begins its high-level debate on Tuesday, September 19
“OIC Secretary-General Brahim Taha will also discuss the concerns of Member States about the danger of escalation of #Islamophobia with the #EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, and the Foreign Ministers of #Sweden and #Denmark.
“OIC’s efforts are in line with the outcomes of the #OIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ extraordinary session held on July 31, 2023, and the Executive Committee meeting on July 2, 2023, on Qur’an desecrations,” the tweet revealed.
On the same occasion, Muslim News gathered that the OIC is expected to hold bilateral meetings with the leaders and heads of delegations of a number of #OIC Member States as well as officials of regional and international organizations.
The OIC also hinted that on the sidelines of the UNGA78, it will hold an annual coordination meeting of the #OIC Foreign Ministers and the meetings of the OIC Committee of Six on the Question of #Palestine, the Contact Group on Muslims in Europe, the Contact Group on Jammu and #Kashmir, and the Contact Group on #Rohingya Muslims in #Myanmar.
