What Saudi Arabia said about the execution of two Bangladeshis in Makkah

The Ministry of Interior issued a statement today concerning the implementation of the death sentence by ta’zir against two offenders in the Makkah region.

The statement reads as follows:

Allah Almighty says: “And do not cause corruption on the earth after its reformation.” He also says: “And do not seek corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not love those who cause corruption.” He further says: “And Allah does not love corruption.” Allah Almighty also says: “Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive to spread corruption in the land is that they be killed, or crucified, or have their hands and feet cut off on opposite sides, or be expelled from the land. That is a disgrace for them in this world, and they will have a great punishment in the Hereafter.”

Nazrul Islam Abdul Basir and the woman, Siti Akhtar, both of Bangladeshi nationality, committed an indecent act inside one of the mosques in the Holy Capital [Makkah].

By the grace of Allah, the security authorities were able to arrest them. Investigations resulted in charges being brought against them for committing the crime. After they were referred to the competent court, a judgment was issued establishing the charges attributed to them and sentencing them to death by ta’zir, given the seriousness and gravity of their actions in violating the sanctity of the time and place.

The judgment became final after it was upheld by the competent authority, and a royal order was issued to implement the punishment prescribed under Islamic law against them.

In announcing this, the Ministry of Interior affirms the Saudi government’s commitment to maintaining security, achieving justice and implementing the rulings of Islamic law against anyone who violates the sanctity of mosques and infringes upon people’s honour. It also warns anyone who contemplates committing such acts that they will face the prescribed punishment.

Editorial note: The Ministry’s statement uses the expression “an indecent act” but does not specify the precise conduct. It does not mention kissing, say that the two were married, or identify the mosque as the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram).

قال تعالى: “وَلَا تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلَاحِهَا”، وقال تعالى: “وَلَا تَبْغِ الْفَسَادَ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُفْسِدِينَ”، وقال تعالى: “وَاللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْفَسَادَ”، وقال تعالى: “إِنَّمَا جَزَاءُ الَّذِينَ يُحَارِبُونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا أَنْ يُقَتَّلُوا أَوْ يُصَلَّبُوا أَوْ تُقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُمْ مِنْ خِلَافٍ أَوْ يُنْفَوْا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ ذَلِكَ لَهُمْ خِزْيٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَلَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ”.
أقدم كل من/ نذر ال اسلام عبد ال بصير والمرأة/ سيتي اختر -بنجلاديشيي الجنسية- على فعل الفاحشة داخل أحد المساجد بالعاصمة المقدسة، وبفضل من الله تمكنت الجهات الأمنية من القبض على المذكورين، وأسفر التحقيق معهما عن توجيه الاتهام إليهما بارتكاب الجريمة، وبإحالتهما إلى المحكمة المختصة؛ صدر بحقهما حُكم يقضي بثبوت ما نسب إليهما والحُكم بقتلهما تعزيرًا لخطورة وجسامة ما أقدما عليه بانتهاكهما حرمة الزمان والمكان، وأصبح الحُكم نهائيًا بعد تأييده من مرجعه، وصدر أمر ملكي بإنفاذ ما تقرر شرعًا بحق المذكورين.
وتم تنفيذ حُكم القتل تعزيرًا بكل من/ نذر ال اسلام عبد ال بصير و/ سيتي اختر -بنجلاديشيي الجنسية- يوم الأربعاء بتاريخ 3 / 5 / 1448هـ الموافق 14 / 10 / 2026م بمنطقة مكة المكرمة.
