The just-concluded Eko Akete 2025 conference of The Criterion, Association of Muslim Women in Business and the Professions, was not all about panel discussions and keynote addresses; it was also about relaxation, cultural expression, and sisterly bonding.
As part of the five-day event, Muslim News gathered that delegates were treated to a lively beach outing, described by many as “fun reloaded by the Criterion women of Jannah.”
Held at Country Beach, Oke-Mapo, along Abraham Adesanya Road by Ogombo, the outing gave members a refreshing break to relax, connect and appreciate nature after intense discussions on nation-building, women’s empowerment, and technology. 
It was a vibrant Saturday afternoon. Following the association’s AGM, delegates arrived at the beach full of excitement, joyfully singing and chanting “Arómi sá lègbe lègbe” and “Eko Leleyin”, a city defined by its coastal beauty and vibrant spirit.
The cheerful atmosphere set the tone for an afternoon filled with fun, games, and bonding. Delegates participated in a spirited basket toss, team-building games, horse rides, photo sessions, and interactive moments with the sea waves, all designed to deepen sisterhood and create lasting memories.
Lagos State Ameerah, Hajia Mariam Morenike Saba, added a heartfelt touch by providing coconuts for all attendees. As delegates sipped the fresh coconut water, they basked in the beach’s serene atmosphere, enjoying a rare moment of relaxation amidst nature’s splendour.
The beach outing brought a vibrant, personal dimension to the Eko Akete 2025 conference, strengthening sisterly bonds and reaffirming The Criterion’s commitment to the holistic well-being of its members, both spiritually, intellectually, and physically. 
Suspension prayer was observed by the beachside, adding a spiritual layer to the calm ambience of Lagos, the state of aquatic splendour.
As the sun set, delegates transitioned into Variety Night, the grand cultural finale of the conference. While the beach brought laid-back joy, Variety Night was truly the icing on the cake.
Anchored by Hajia Dhikrat Oshodi, Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee, the colourful evening featured delegates adorned in vibrant cultural attire representing their different states.
The programme opened with a brief but impactful talk by Hajia Mutiat Hassan on “The Use of Culture in Overcoming Social and Economic Challenges,” setting a thoughtful tone.
Delegations from various states showcased performances reflecting their unique heritage, celebrating unity in diversity and the cultural strength of Muslim women.
The evening wrapped up on a joyful note, creating lasting memories and bringing the curtain down on a highly impactful and inspiring 5-day conference.
