The Criterion, Association of Muslim Women in Business and the Professions, has announced Hajia Sakirat Omolara Shekoni as its new International Amirah.
Hajia Shekoni, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), is from the Abuja District of The Criterion.
Until her appointment, she served as the International Naibat-ul Amirah (Deputy Leader), a role in which she distinguished herself with dedication and exceptional leadership.
Her appointment as the new Amirah was officially announced during the recently concluded Eko Akete 2025 Conference, held in Lagos from November 12 to 16.
The five-day event drew participants from across Nigeria and abroad, and featured a mix of intellectual, spiritual, and social engagements.
The transition was facilitated by the Shurah (Consultative) Committee headed by Hajia Mutiat Hassan, who announced the dissolution of the outgoing executive body led by Hajia Medinat Olufunke Akanni, Esq. during one of the key sessions of the conference.
Hajia Hassan gave a brief speech on the transparent selection process before unveiling the new officers, with Hajia Sakirat Omolara Shekoni named as the leader to steer the affairs of The Criterion International for the next two administrative years.
Serving as her deputy is Hajia Dhikrat Abiodun Matesun-Oshodi from Lagos State, who was appointed as the new Naibatul Amirah.
The new administration also features Hajia Simibiat Salaudeen from Abuja as National Secretary General with Hajia Monsurat Azeez (Lagos) as National Assistant Secretary.
In youth development and empowerment, Hajia Ganiyat Ajibade (Kwara) will serve as the National Youth Coordinator. Hajia Fatimah Salaudeen, also from Kwara, has been appointed Welfare Officer.
Ensuring transparency and financial oversight, Adebimpe Mujidat (Osun) will function as the Auditor, with Riskia Adedimeji (Lagos) as Public Relations Officer (PRO). The Legal Officer is Barrister Fausat Bakare, also from Lagos.
Hajia Muheedah Kemi Bello (Lagos) will take charge as Financial Secretary, supported by Treasurer Hajia Kudirat Ajibola Sarumi from Osun.
In spiritual leadership, Hajia Abdulganyu Aboto (Kwara) has been named the National Mualimah, with Hajia Jimoh Sukurat Adekemi (Oyo) serving as her assistant.
Two senior members, immediate past Amirah, Justice Medinah Akanni (Oyo) and Hajia Rashidat Malik (Ghana), have been appointed as Ex-Officio I and II respectively, to lend their experience and guidance to the new executive.
