The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, has joined Muslims around the world in commemorating the 2026 World Hijab Day, describing the hijab as a symbol of dignity, strength and faith.
In a goodwill message issued on the occasion, themed “Unity in Hijab,” the First Lady said World Hijab Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of choice, identity and religious devotion among Muslim women.
She noted that for many women, the hijab represents obedience, worship and self-respect, while also serving as a reminder that diversity should be a source of unity rather than division.
Senator Tinubu called on Nigerians to continue promoting mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and solidarity across cultural and religious lines, stressing that the country’s strength lies in its diversity.
She urged citizens to uphold values of tolerance and understanding in order to build a more inclusive and harmonious society.
She concluded by wishing Muslim women and participants across the globe a happy World Hijab Day, reaffirming her support for unity, respect and national cohesion.
