The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria, MUSWEN, has paid glowing tribute to the outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is-haq Oloyede, commending his outstanding record of service, transparency and far reaching reforms as he concludes his ten year tenure at the examination body.
In a statement issued on Thursday and jointly signed by the President of MUSWEN, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, and its Executive Secretary, Professor Wole Abbas, the organisation described Professor Oloyede as an exemplary public servant whose leadership transformed JAMB into one of Nigeria’s most credible and accountable government institutions.
Professor Oloyede, who was first appointed Registrar in 2016 and reappointed for a second term in 2021, officially completes his tenure on July 31, 2026. He is expected to hand over to the newly appointed Registrar, Professor Segun Aina, a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
Reflecting on his years in office, MUSWEN said Professor Oloyede introduced sweeping reforms that restored integrity to the board’s operations and strengthened public confidence in the nation’s admission and examination processes.
The organisation noted that before his appointment, JAMB was widely criticised for poor financial remittances to the Federal Government. However, under Professor Oloyede’s leadership, the board sanitised its financial system, improved accountability and remitted more than N55 billion to the national treasury.
According to MUSWEN, the unprecedented level of fiscal discipline and transparency demonstrated during his administration has become a reference point for good governance and institutional accountability in the Nigerian public service.
As a new leadership takes over at JAMB, MUSWEN called on government, education stakeholders, the media and civil society organisations to extend the same level of support given to Professor Oloyede to his successor.
The organisation expressed confidence in Professor Segun Aina, describing him as an accomplished expert in digital infrastructure and national examination systems. It, however, noted that sustaining the high standards established over the past decade would require the collective support of all stakeholders.
MUSWEN also offered prayers for Professor Oloyede as he begins a new chapter after public service, expressing optimism that his legacy of integrity, accountability and excellence would continue to inspire future leaders and serve as a model for effective governance in Nigeria.
