Days after Turkish President, Recep Toyyip Erdogan emerged the 2019 Global Muslim Personality for the second-time in a row, the Publisher of Muslim News, Nigeria’s most authoritative Islamic newspaper has concluded plans to unveil the Top 5 Nigerian Muslim Personalities.
The Publisher of the newspaper, Rasheed Abubakar made the disclosure on Monday, in Lagos, Southwest, Nigeria, saying, “Like the global personalities’ category, the annual Nigerian Muslim Personality Award will celebrate Muslim individual achievers for their astonishing feats in defending and promoting Islam and the Muslims.
“The expose will include their success stories as Muslims in culture, religion, politics, academia, business and public service during the period under review. This recognition which commenced last year is a way of celebrating some of our outstanding achievers as Muslims who have braved the odds as victims of media bias and misrepresentation over the years,” said Abubakar.
Muslim News Publisher’s statement revealed that the announcement for the fourth runner-up (fifth position) will commence on Tuesday, January 14, 2019 with the overall winner, of the prestigious 2019 Nigerian Muslim Personality of the Year, emerging on Friday, January 17, 2020.
While acknowledging and appreciating several international media outfits for the unprecedented massive coverage they gave this year’s Global Muslim Personality Award, which saw the emergence of President Erdogan of Turkey as the winner, Abubakar seeks the cooperation of the Nigerian Muslims especially journalists in supporting the annual awards, saying that, it will in future metamorphose to something bigger, celebrating Muslim individuals who have impacted positively in politics, activism, media, art, education and religious advocacy, among others.
