Bishops, Pastors embrace of Islam not recent, MPD clarifies

Muslim Professionals in Da’wah (MPD) has described as ‘wrong information’, the news of 42 pastors, 2 bishops and their families reportedly converting to Islam on Sunday at a seminar held at the National mosque in Abuja, Nigeria.

Social media has been agog since yesterday when the pictures hit the cyberspace with many Muslim netizens welcoming the ‘new’ reverts to Islam, the religion of peace.

One Abu Haneef posted on Twitter:

“42 pastors, 2 bishops, and their families accepted Islam at the conference hall of National Mosque, Abuja. A 7-day seminar is being held to educate them on the basics of Islam. From Zuma Times Hausa”

Some online media outlets including opera news also reported the news with the headline, ’42 Pastors And Their Families Convert To Islam At National Mosque In Abuja (see photos), saying, “The program (sic) of their conversion actually took place at the conference hall of National Mosque in Abuja.”

In a swift reaction, the National Administrative Officer of the organisation, Mal. Ahmed Muhammed said it was a wrong information to say 42 pastors and their families accepted Islam, adding that, the 7-day seminar was not a conversion programme, rather, one of the series of enlightenment programmes the Muslim Professionals in Da’wah has been organising for them since they embraced Islam several years ago.

They Are Not New Converts

In a phone interview with Muslim News on Monday, Mal. Muhammed said, “The information is wrong and inaccurate. They didn’t revert to Islam recently. They have been Muslims for years, albeit they were former pastors and Bishops.

“I can’t really remember when they accepted Islam but all I know is that it has been long and they accepted Islam at different times, not at once. And this seminar is one for the series of lectures we organise for them where we teach and educate them about Islam,” he added.

Speaking further, the Admin officer said the Islamic Workshop, a collaborative effort with the Abuja National Mosque was aimed at engaging the former Pastors in the exchange of knowledge as well as creating the right network in the propagation of Islam.

“If a Fasiq (liar- evil person) comes to you with any news, verify it, lest you should harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful for what you have done. Quran: 49: 6”

The fanatical Christian critics of the news of their conversion are religious entrepreneur
They receive millions of dollars from wealthy Christian individual and corporate donors with
the plot of wiping Islam completely from the surface of Nigeria. If the news now filter to them that
pastors are accepting Islam in droves in Nigeria the question now arises where had all the dollars gone to.
It exposes their lies that Christianity is on the rise and Islam on the decline in Nigeria.
So to them when the pastors reverted is inconsequential. They must rubbish the fact they ever did so. They must give an impression it was hogwash and mere well ochestrated and trumpeted propaganda from the fertile brain of some overzealous Muslims
Congratulations to the reverts . Congratulations to the Muslim Professionals In Dawah
