Ahman Pategi University appoints UNILORIN Don, Adedimeji as pioneer VC

Ahman Pategi University has appointed Prof. Mahfouz Adedimeji as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the newly approved private institution.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Council of Ahman Pategi University, Hon Aliyu Ahman Pategi, presented letter of appointment to Prof. Adedimeji on Tuesday at the University Permanent Site.

Prof. Adedimeji until is his appointment is one of the most reverred academic figures at University of Ilorin.

He holds a B.A. (Honours), M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in English Language from the University of Ilorin.

The Professor of Pragmatics and Applied Linguistics has undergone training in Media and Communications at Governors States University, Illinois, USA, and received  training in Peace Studies at Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, Notre Dame University, Indiana, USA.

A former Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies of the University of Ilorin and ex-member of the Governing Council of the International Peace Research Association, Prof. Adedimeji is a Fulbright scholar who holds the Education Certificates of the Virtual Institute for Higher Education Pedagogy (VIHEP) of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Nigeria.

A UNDP consultant and award winning scholar, the new Vice Chancellor started his academic career in 2000 in Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso before joining the services of the University of Ilorin where he rose through the ranks over a period of about two decades to become a Professor in 2019.

A well published scholar nationally and internationally, Prof. Adedimeji is a celebrated columnist with different newspapers and periodicals. He has attended scores of academic conferences across Nigeria and within Africa, Europe, Asia and the United States.

The brief ceremony was attended by the Board of Trustees Chairman, Senator Isah Mohammed and Acting Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi.

With Prof. Mahfouz Adedimeji’s appointment as the Pioneer Vice Chancellor of Ahman Pategi University, the institution is fully ready to commence for 2020/2021 academic session in April.

Ahman Pategi University is one of the 20 new private universities approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The institution is located in Patigi, a local Government within the Kwara Noth axis of Kwara State.
