In a statement signed on his behalf by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, the Vice-Chancellor said that Prof.Adedimeji’s appointment did not come to him and most members of the University community as a surprise, considering the track record of the Professor of English, who he described as a renowned wordsmith and one of the most promising alumni of the University of Ilorin.

Prof. Abdulkareem explained that having followed the stimulating career trajectory of the new APU Vice-Chancellor, especially his sterling service delivery endeavours as a teacher, researcher, writer and administrator, he had always believed that the foremost newspaper columnist has greater days ahead of him.

Describing Prof. Adedimeji as a very brilliant academic, hard working administrator and a painstaking researcher, Prof. Abdulkareem expressed the belief that he possesses every quality needed to succeed in his new task of assisting the new university to lay a healthy, strong and sustainable foundation, which will stand the test of time.

The Unilorin Vice- Chancellor added that he particularly reposes a very great trust in Prof. Adedimeji, who once served as the Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies (CPSS) at the University, ssying that he has never disappointed the management of the University in all the responsibilities entrusted to him.

Prof Abdulkareem urged the new Vice-Chancellor, who is also a former National Secretary of the University of Ilorin Alumni Association, to ensure that he brought to bear his glowing erudition and exciting exposure to his new assignment.

He added that Prof. Adedimeji must see himself as an Ambassador of the nation’s most sought after University by ensuring that he put in place enduring legacies of service and probity in order to fast track the growth of the new institution and build a healthy relationship between his alma mater and the Ahman Pategi University.
