The Federal Government has joined the list of countries that reacted to the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, Palestine, which has claimed the lives of 69, including 17 children and eight women as of early Thursday.

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press release signed by its spokesperson, Ferdinand Nwonye, advised the two countries to show restraint and settle their grievances amicably.

The ministry, while refusing to take sides, reiterated its support for a two-state solution to the aged-long crisis.

The Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari had at different fora, including the UN General Assembly, proposed a two-state solution to the Israel- Palestine conflict.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to state that the Federal Government of Nigeria is watching with great concern, the unfolding developments in Israel and the State of Palestine and urges both parties to see reason and de-escalate the hostilities.

“The Nigerian Government further urges the two parties to remain committed to the two-state solution and, in the meantime, guarantee the rights of all citizens to live in peace and dignity,” Nwonye stated.

Muslim News findings revealed that the current crisis started when Israel unlawfully evicted the residents of sheikh Jarrah district in East Jerusalem and attacked Muslim worshippers who were praying during the last 10 days of Ramadan.
