The leader of the Masquerade worshippers, Chief Kayode Idowu Esuleke has been taken into custody by operatives of Osun State Police command over his involvement in Sunday’s attacks on Muslim worshippers at Oluode Aranyin area of Osogbo, capital of Osun.
Chief Esuleke, a stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the State, was detained following demands by Muslim rights organisations for justice for the victims.
The bloody attack claimed the life of a prominent Muslim personality, Alhaji Moshood Salawudeen, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The Osun State Commissioner of Police Mr. Olawale Olokode promised to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
Chief Esuleke is currently being interrogated at the office of the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT) in Oke-Fia, Muslim News findings revealed.
