Graduating with a First Class, it feels good and fulfilling – Fmr. Amir, MSSN, UNILAG, Salaudeen

As the saying goes “to whom much is given, much is expected”, this is the case of Hassan Taiwo Salaudeen, whose peak of membership in MSSN saw him serve as the Amir during the 2018/2019 session. Prior to that, he had served as the Coordinator, Engineering Muslim Students Society (EMSS).

The joy of the 4.54 CGPA first class graduate of Systems Engineering could not be quantified as he gave thanks to Allah for the success.

“AlhamduliLlah, it feels good and fulfilling. It has always been my goal since year 1 and with dedication, determination and discipline, Allah made it a goal come true.

“My interest in Mathematics motivated me to study Systems Engineering. I was good (lol, though I am still good small) in Mathematics, and I heard stories from my secondary school seniors, who were studying Systems Engineering at that time that the course is all about Mathematics (lol! scam). So, as a secondary school student with no deep thought, I quickly jumped at it but yeah, it was a good choice, AlhamduliLlah”.

Sharing his MSSN story and how the body has affected his performance, he said, “I will say my participation in MSSN contributed largely to this feat. I could remember MSSNUNILAG Freshers’ week that I attended in year 1 where scholars (Muslim brothers and sisters) were invited to talk to us about the importance of academic excellence. The motivation I got from this program was really helpful amongst other programs like ACS and Tutorials.

“Moving on the journey when I started assuming responsibilities in MSSN-UNILAG, things were super difficult (e no easy) but I must tell you I had the best of results in some of those semesters, for example, the only semester I had 5.0 aside IT semester, I remembered I attended like 3 MSSN camps (HICOMS, April IVC and Da’wah camp) amongst others and this was because the responsibilities made me a good time manager, I was able to plan activities well. AlhamduliLlah.”

Hassan is currently undergoing his compulsory NYSC programme with KPMG Nigeria and sees himself at the verge of completing his PhD program in Industrial Engineering in the next five years.
