Hikmah Fadare: The Success Story of a Brilliant Student on the Path of Greatness

On a bright and cheery Tuesday afternoon in August 2021, one of the leading private schools in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, Rahmah Schools, staged a spectacular Graduation/Prize-giving Ceremony, which marked the end of the 2020/2021 academic session.

The colourful event, which took place at Fit Joy event centre, Agege, Lagos State was graciously attended by parents, friends, and family members of the graduands.

Muslim News findings revealed that Rahmah Schools, founded in September 17, 2001, is an accommodating learning centre that fulfils all wishes and needs of its students from pre-school to secondary school level.

It is well-equipped with all modern educational tools needed to foster and encourage learning.

It’s part of a network of Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools located at 25, Ebun street, Funmilayo bus stop, Papa Ashafa, Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, owned by Alhaja Rahmatallah Ogunmuyiwa, a retired Director/Principal with Lagos State Government.

The Founder graduated with a first class in Geography Education from University of Lagos and earned many scholarship awards. She is a grandmother, mother, teacher of teachers, role model and a mentor for many achievers in and out of the educational sector.

Alhaja Ogunmuyiwa said she founded the school to tend to all of the students’ individual and general needs, adding that it provides a space for all students to thrive.

The graduation/prize-giving ceremony is one of the activities of the school which is meant to celebrate the achievements of the pupils/students at the end of every academic session.

The 2021 edition saw an SSS 3 student, Hikmah Fadekemi Fadare, 15, emerge as the best graduating student, carting away all major awards in Science, Mathematics, and English for her outstanding performances.

Hikmah, who comes from a humble background, quickly became a cynosure of all eyes at the well-attended event where she got a standing ovation from the audience, including her classmates.

Born on the 23rd of June, 2006 in Agege Local Government into the family of Fadare Jamiu, Hikmah had her primary education at Rahmah Private School. Afterwards, she proceeded to another High School within Agege for her junior secondary education.

As a child who loves to be challenged, she insisted on going back to Rahmah Schools where she would face lots of rigorous brain-tasking activities. The parents, we reliably gathered, had no choice but to re-enroll her in Rahmah College to continue her senior secondary education.

While in SSS 2, she emerged the Head Girl of the School, as a result of her brilliant academic performance and great sense of responsibility.

Despite combining that leadership responsibility with academics, she never got distracted as she worked hard to become the best graduating student in SSS 3.

It was indeed a period the star girl would forever remember as she continues her academic sojourn.

But, the beautiful story does not end there. To further acknowledge her outstanding achievement, the Vice-Chairperson, Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, who is also the Head of Education Committee, Hon. Mrs. Akanni Kafilah awarded a University Scholarship to the young scholar.

The scholarship was announced by the Founder and Proprietress of the School, Alhaja Ogunmuyiwa, who commended the Honourable for the kind gesture, which she believes would encourage other students to be more dedicated and committed to their academics.

She said, “We appreciate our Honourable, Alhaja Mrs. Akanni Kafilah for her kind gesture, more power to your elbow. I strongly believe that this unique philanthropic act by Alhaja Kafilah would forever be remembered, as it has been engraved in the memory of all present at the occasion. To Rahmah Schools, this would always be a driving force to perform better to get more of such some other time.”

Hikmah, also adjudged with the best of excellent moral character was excited to win the best graduating student award as she appreciated the school, from the founder to the staff, for the right academic and moral guidance.

She thanked the Honourable for the scholarship and promised to make them proud.

According to her, “Really, I can’t express in words how I felt on that day. That moment of my life I was announced as the best graduating student of my school, I felt like I was on cloud nine. I was the happiest person on this planet.

“I intend to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan because my ambition is to become a qualified and competent medical doctor.

“The decision to become a doctor was driven largely by values instilled in me by my faith and family. Islam teaches saving lives and helping others regardless of the circumstance. I am eager to facilitate healthier and happier living among people. I can’t imagine a more fulfilling job,” she added.

The 2021 Graduation Ceremony and Prize giving Day recorded a great turnout with lots of beautiful presentations by the graceful and energetic pupils, students and staff of the school.

Excellence awards were also presented to the best students from pre-school to junior and senior secondary school.

The ceremony had in attendance, very important dignitaries. Among them were the Director at the Ministry of Education, Office of Quality Assurance, Lagos State, Mr. Ajibade Taofeeq; Immediate Past President MUTECO 83, Mr. Omotayo Ilori; Manager, Union bank PLC, Mr. Utomi Utomi; Proprietor, Bright Hope Schools, Alhaji A. R. A Bello, and the Director, OEQA, Lagos State, Alhaji Sulaiman O. Ogunmuyiwa, and many others too numerous to mention.
