Alhaji Bayo Tijani died and was buried in line with Islamic rites on Thursday, August 19, 2021. We thank Allah SWT for His mercies on him. He was fulfilled as a Broadcast Journalist, a champion of humanity and Human Rights.
In his day as a Radio broadcaster, Haj Bayo Tijani bestrides the narrow world. At Radio Lagos, he made his mark. When it comes to Religious broadcasts on Radio and Television, our revered father has shown that we must be informed, educated and entertained rightly.
He partnered with Alhaji Yaya Salam, a retired Radio Broadcaster of Radio Lagos. Both are twins of the Broadcast genres. Highly devoted and passionate about their chosen profession.
In private practice, Baba Bayo Tijani established Sulbatab Media outfit, engaging in Audio-visuals productions and promoting a unique brand of Folawiyo family humanitarian gestures.
Among others are, the call to prayers five times daily for years, the 30 minutes spiritual diet on Fridays from eminent Islamic Scholars in Radio Lagos and remarkably annual Ramadan lectures on Radio Lagos/Eko FM,LTV and MITV.
He discovered young talents in the broadcast industry and Journalism as a whole. He encouraged all to grow at our pace. What a lovely personality.
I met him 26 years ago as an intern from the NIgerian Institute of Journalism, NIJ , at the old office of Radio Radio down the valley of Obafemi Awolowo Road. To him, here is a bundling talent that needed all encouragements. Baba Bayo Tijani and Yaya Salaam were there for me before and throughout my tenure as Chairman NUJ Lagos State council. Both were happy about my successes. I will forever be grateful to their wise counsel.
Before the demise of Baba Folawiyo, every year, he organised Ramadan Media parley at the Folawiyo home in Ikoyi, among other engagements.
Late Bayo Tijani encouraged and participated in public complaints engagements till he breath his last. One cannot forget Mo Gbejo Mi De, programme first on MITV and later on LTV. On set, Baba Bayo Tijani white beard and counsel are signature tunes. You cannot miss him in the crowd. Very jovial.
Soft spoken and humble even in old age. Baba Bayo Tijani is a great lesson in humility to the young and old.
Surely, he has played his part and ended well. Unto Allah swt will come and unto him we shall return at an appointed date. Inalillah wainna illahi rojiun.
Good night Alhaji Bayo Tijani.
