Renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Bilaal Shiithu (Eruwa); Acting President, Council of Ulamah of Nigeria, Sheikh AbdulFattah Thanni; the Mudeer of Markaz Salam, Sheikh Moshood Jubril Ramadan and other prominent Muslim scholars on Saturday, March 5, 2022 graced the Walimah and Aqdu Nikaah of Sheikh Dhikrullah Shafii’s daughter, Sumayyah Adenike to Dr. Abdul Wasi Adedeji Badru.
The Nikaah, held at Homat Event Centre, Igbogbo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, was also attended by captains of industries, including Alhaji Mutiu Anthony, CEO, Easy and Quiet Limited; Alhaji Maruf Akanni Toluwaloju, CEO Wheel Oil; Imam Dr. Abdullahi Shuaib, CEO, Jaiz Charity and Development Foundation.
Muslim News Islamtaiment gathered that the most anticipated nikaah of the year started with the introduction ceremony, which was held earlier on Saturday, at the same venue. The ceremony, one of the rites of the solemnisation, had the presence of family members and friends of the couple.
The nikaah proper commenced around past 11 am with some invited guests looking stunning in their colourful attires as they walked into the beautifully decorated filled-to-capacity venue.
Adorned in a lilac jilbab, the beautiful bride, the second daughter of the Iwo, Osun State-born Muslim scholar, sat in-between her mothers, Hajiya Aasiyah Abdul Wahab (her mum, Sheikh Shafii’s first wife) and Hajiya Aishah Islam (her stepmum, Sheikh Shafii’s second wife), on the right side, and on the left side was another important personality and one of the happiest persons at the venue, Hajiya Qudrah Badru, the groom’s first wife.
Many friends and guests hailed Hajiya Qudrah, the CEO of Qd Elegant Occasions, for the genuinely loving and accepting Sumayyah not only as her co-wife but sister.
The Guest speaker, Shaykh Bilaal Shiithu; who delivered the nikaah lecture and solemnised the couple, took out special time to also commend the groom’s first wife, as he showered prayers on her, saying there are great rewards for a wife who allows her husband to marry another wife.
The knot was tied by Sheikh Bilaal Shiithu, (teacher to the bride’s father at Mahdul Arabiy), who admonished the guests on the importance and place of marriage in Islam.
He noted that Islam permits a male to get married to at most 4 wives.
Enumerating the conditions for a valid union, the learned Islamic scholar said “we must know the husband and wife-to-be, the guardian of the wife-to-be must assent to it, the witnesses must be present, and here today, we have Dr Abdullah Shuaib from the wife’s family and Dr Busari from the husband’s family.
“For the Mahr (dowry), the least should worth Rubu’u Dinar. It’s equivalent is more than Nineteen Thousand Naira. Approximately, what should be given to the wife as mahr should not be lesser than Twenty Thousand Naira at this time”, he noted.
Muslim News was later reliably informed that the wife, a graduate of Biochemistry from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH and multiple award-winning Fashion designer, collected a copy of the Noble Qur’an as Mahr and monetary gift, which was not disclosed.
The elated bride’s father, Sheikh Shafii and excited groom, Dr. Badru were called on to carry out the process of offer and acceptance (Ijaab wal qabul).
At the request of the groom, the bride’s father cheerfully declared the release of his damsel to the groom on the condition that he will take care of her, adding that, “the groom should make efforts to settle discords, and should divorce take place, it should be done in accordance with the Islamic principles”.
Dr. Abdul Wasi, who recently bagged his Master of Philosophy (Cancer Science), from Stellenbosch University, South Africa; and Sumayyah, the CEO of Sumadenike Clothing, who also had her MSc in Public Health at the Lagos State College of Medicine, LASUCOM, Ikeja, Lagos, were thereafter pronounced as husband and wife.
