Ex-Lagos commissioner, AbdulLateef urges Muslims to uphold teachings of the Qur’an, as Misbaudeen Islamic Centre holds first Walimatul Qur’an

PIX 1) L-R: Immediate Past Chairperson, Women Journalists, Lagos Chapter, Hajia Sakinah Lawal, on behalf of Markaz Misbaudeen Islamic Centre, presenting a plaque of recognition to Hon. Dr. AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef with Chief Supretendent of Customs, Mallam AbdulKabir Bature and Agbesinga Adinni of Misbaudeen Islamic Centre, MIC, Hajia Aminat Ibrahim at the Walimatul Qur’an and 10th anniversary 's Award Recognition ceremony in Lagos.

A clarion call has gone to all Muslims to uphold the teachings of the glorious Qur’an in order to succeed in this world and the hereafter.

Speaking at the Misbaudeen Islamic Centre (MIC) Walimatul Qur’an held over the weekend, the Chief Imam, Lagos State House of Assembly Mosque and former Home Affairs Commissioner in Lagos State, Ustadh (Dr.) AbdulLateef AbdulHakeem rhetorically asked the audience if truly the Qur’an is in their lives and whether their lives are reflecting the teachings of the glorious Qur’an?

The graduation, the first of its kind, had five graduands reciting different chapters from the Noble Qur’an in different sonorous voices. They are; Sodiq Ajala, Halima Ajala, Aliyah Ajala, AbdulKabir Oloyede and Faruq Niniola.

Hon. AbdulLateef, spoke on virtues of the glorious Qur’an, urging the graduands to live with the Qur’an and ensure it reflects in their conducts as they graduated from the centre.

“Are we following the prescription of how we should live this life, which is the Qur’an? Failure to follow the guidance of the glorious Qur’an can be compared to taking drugs without following a doctor or manufacturer’s prescriptions which is very dangerous and poisonous.”

According to him, since we cannot use drugs without following the dosage, same applies to the Qur’an; It is our guidance and we must follow it.

He stated that the Qur’an is the right path and true guidance, and whoever follows the teachings of the Qur’an will not miss their way.

“Allah says if you fail to see my signs, you will be resurrected blind on the Day of Judgement. We have problems because we are not following the dictates of the glorious Qur’an.”

He reminded the audience that there’s no compulsion in religion as stated in the Qur’an while reiterating the fact that Boko Haram members are not Muslims and that there’s nothing Islamic in their activities.

“We are all from sand, consuming sand and will be returned to sand, hence, the need for us to fear Allah, always remember death, worship Allah as we should diligently, be good to others and follow the teachings of the Qur’an in all our affairs.” He concluded.

Qur’an, the greatest Creation of Allah – Davies

Also speaking on the significance of the glorious Qur’an, Ustadh Abdullahi Davies said that Qur’an is the greatest creation of Allah (SWT) and the only book that can be reproduced intact.

“The noble Qur’an is the solution to all problems as it is Allah’s revelation to Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) in the glorious month of Ramadan which contains every guidance about life and the hereafter.”

Davies lamented the unfortunate situation we find ourselves, where Muslims have left the Qur’an unattended to.

He therefore called on all true Muslims to go back to the rules of the Qur’an so as to have the best of here and the hereafter.

“Allah’s protection is always on the Qur’an and we also need to guard the Qur’an jealousy, and follow its rules and regulations.

He advised the graduating students of Qur’an to take their Muraja’ah (Qur’an revision) very seriously because this is very key; let them do continuous revision and be wary of music.

Beware, Music and Qur’an can’t stay together – Imam Qamarudeen

Imam Qamarudeen AbdulLateef also called on parents to ensure that their children keep on reciting the Qur’an constantly as well as living in accordance with the dictates of the glorious Qur’an.

“Parents must give equal attention and importance to both the religious and western education of their children because that’s what will make them complete beings.”

Among those given awards of recognition included Alhaja Aminah Ibrahim as Agbesinga Adinni of Misbaudeen Islamic Centre, Alhaji Ali among others.
