Sheikh (Prof.) Ali Isa Pantami has called on the Muslim Ummah to apply their knowledge in activities that would sustain the positive image of Islam and shun materialism which is likely to prevent them from adhering to the tenets of Islam.
Pantami, who is Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, made the call during his Ramadan Tafsir at Masjid An-Noor Wuse 2, Abuja.
In a lecture delivered in Hausa, Sheikh Pantami said; “This is a period for us to increase our worship, faith and piety as revealed in the Holy Qur’an and practiced by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
He said the theme of the Ramadhan Tafseer “The Slaves of the Most Merciful” was carefully chosen to educate Muslims on the moral principles and behaviour of Muslims in the society.
According to him, As Muslims are generally requested to fashion their lives in line with the teachings and ethics of Islam. It is also the fundamental responsibility of Muslim to protect the religion from corruption, defend it from aggression and protect its sanctity.
Prof. Pantami, who recently emerged Nigerian Muslim Personality of the Year, said, “anywhere you go, go with your religion, (Islam).
“Dear Muslim! fellow Nigerians! Remember Allah always and praise Him in the morning and evening, Muslims have nothing other than Islam, the pride of Muslims is Islam, the cloth of Muslims is Islam. As to what proceeds: Verily the best of speech is the Book of Allah and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (SAW),” he added.
