Stakeholders from different Islamic organisations, including council on Islamic Affairs, Muslim community leaders and female Muslim umbrella bodies recently gathered at the Muslim Community Secretariat Mosque, Oke-lewo, Abeokuta to discuss extensively on hard-earned democratic governance, discriminatory tendencies and sidelining of Muslims among others, by the Ogun State government.
The meeting was convened by the Central District of the Ogun State Muslim Council to boost synergy on the future of Muslims and sustainable development of Islam.
Scores of strategic representatives at the meeting renewed their commitment to the service of Islam and sacrifice to Almighty Allah with utmost interest in the progress and development of Muslims against all odds and all forms of sentimental discriminations.
The sitting hailed the growing synergy which has been strengthening the corporate, human and spiritual working relationship across divergent Muslims in Ogun Central in particular, and Ogun State in general.
On their stance, the stakeholders maintained: “Never shall Muslims allow to either be sandwiched, sidetracked, sidelined or maligned”, noting the role that “Muslims, alongside others played to midwife and sustain the ongoing democratic governance in Nigeria”.
On the sidelines of the Ogun Central Muslim stakeholders sitting, inputs came in on the position of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and judgement from courts of competent jurisdiction on the hijab, niqob and Muslim rights.
