The national leadership of Al-Mu’minaat has appointed Alhaja Jelilat Oyinlade AbdulHamid as her new Amirah (President), to pilot the affairs of The Believing Muslim Women organisation for the next three-year tenure.
She is taking the mantle of leadership from Alhaja Nimatullah AbdulQuadri, who served the Society for three consecutive tenures (2014 to 2023).
The society also appointed new executive members at states and zonal levels for a two-year administration, through nomination by members and Shura Committee headed by Alhaja Munirah Thalith, a former Amirah of Al-Mu’minaat.
Other executive members include Hajia Asmau Sulaiman (Naibatul Amirah, female Vice President ), Dr. (Pharm.) Hafsah Adesina (General Secretary), Hajia Halimah Folohunsho (Da’wah Affairs Officer), Hajia Hassanat Sanusi (Financial Secretary), Aisha Mikail (Treasurer).
Other include Hajia Zainab Bamidele (Networking Officer), Faoziyyah Abd Ghaffar (Communication Officer), Bushrah Adeagbo-Jubril (Professional Officer), Muinah Shittu (Entrepreneur Officer), Khadijah Sulaiman (Project Officer), Matron Fatimah Adeyemo (Welfare Officer) and Khadijah AbdusSalam (Education Officer).
Lagos
In Lagos State, the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria, Hajia Bilqis Abdullah was appointed the Amirah, with Hajia Nimat Bidmos Olanlege to deputise her as Naibatul Amirah. The new secretary is Hajia Bilqis Falana.
Shakirat Adeboye (Ass. Secretary); Hassanat Akintola (Networking Officer); Sekinah Akano (Professional Officer); Hamdala Muss (Da’wah Officer); Fauziyyah Abdul Fattah (Entrepreneur Officer); Mujirah Adekomaiya (Financial Secretary); Dr. Maryam Oshodi (Welfare Officer); Samiat Uthman (Communication Officer); Nasmat Idris (Project/Investment Officer); Sharifah Odekunle (Treasurer); and Rahmat Oguntola (Education Officer) were also elected.
Abuja
For Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hajia Khadijah Odubanjo will serve as the Amirah while Hajia Bashira Abdul Aziz will be the Secretary.
Others with new appointments include: Dr. Nurah Logun (Welfare Officer); Rashidah Mudathir (Ass. Secretary); Fatimah Rabiu (Da’wah Officer); Maarifa Abdullah (Communication Officer); Ruqayyah Tajudeen (Financial Secretary); Mutiat Adedajo (Education Officer); Khadijah Muh’d Awwal (Professional Officer); and Modinah Mosud (Entrepreneur/Project Officer).
Kwara
In Kwara State, Hajia Mujidah Balogun has been named the new Amirah. She is to be supported by Hajia Ghaniyah Mustapha as Naibatul Amirah. Hajia Muslimah Abdul Razaq will serve as the Secretary.
Other exco members are, Shakirah Sodiq (Ass. Secretary); Zulaikha Yusuf (Financial Officer); Toyyibah Yusuf (Treasurer); Rasheedah Abdur Razaq (Professional Officer); Shakirah Abdul Raheem (Communication Officer); Tawakalit Adisa (Networking Officer); Muhibah Olugbade (Education Officer); Bilqis Abdulsalam (Entrepreneur Officer); Rahmat Olojoku (Project Officer); Bilqis Azkam (Welfare Officer); and Fatimah Alasela (Da’wah Officer).

Oyo
Oyo State’s new Amirah is Hajia Rofiah Abdul Qadr, while Hajia Raheema Bainoh serves as the Naibatul Amirah. Similarly, Hajia Kafayah Ajani was announced Secretary.
Other appointments include: Khadijah Afolabi (Ass. Secretary); Tawakalit Ojo (Financial Secretary); Fatimah Ackims (Entrepreneur Officer); Fasilah Abdul Azeez (Project Officer); Wasilah Ajibiye (Inter Organisation Officer); Sekinah Abubakar (Communication Officer); Monsurah Ajiboye (Welfare Officer); Mutiat Ayeni (Professional Officer); Shakirah Abiola (Education Officer); Fatimah Abdulsalam (Da’wah Officer); and Maryam Olapade (Treasurer).
Osun
For Osun State, Hajia Asmau Ghazali has been appointed the Amirah. This is just as Hajia Nimah Salaudeen and Hajia Basirah Adeleke will serve as Naibatul Amirah and Secretary respectively.
Others are: Habibah Oyegunju (Ass. Secretary); Jelilah Sulayman (Da’wah Officer); Rashidah Salman (Professional Officer); Lateefah Idris (Financial Secretary); Faslah Sulayman (Treasurer); Latifah Mudathir (Communication Officer); Maymunah Abdulsalam (Education Officer); Balkis Elureni (Entrepreneur Officer); Bashira Sanusi (Networking Officer); Toyiba Amao (Project Officer); and Sidiqah Awoleye (Welfare Officer).
Edo
Meanwhile, in Edo, south-south Nigeria, Hajia Muinah Abd Raheem is the new Amirah, while Hajia Shifau Abd Qader serves as the Secretary.

Secretary); Khadijah Ibraheem (Da’wah Officer); Monsurah Abdulnofiu (Financial Secretary); Fatimah Abd Aleem (Welfare Officer); Lateefat Adebule (Communication Officer); Awwah Umar (Professional Officer); Khadijah Yahya (Entrepreneur Officer); Husanat Ukhuna (Education Officer); Monsurah Adeniji (Networking Officer); and Maryam Babalola (Project Officer).
Ijebu Remo Zone
For Ijebu Remo Zone, Hajia Salma Ibrahim serves as the Amirah. The new Secretary is Hajia Hafsa Muh’d Awwal. Others are: Zaynab Abdulkareem (Da’wah Officer); Monsurah Jeje (Financial Secretary); Rashida Ahmad (Welfare Officer); Fatimah Yunus (Professional Officer); Khadijah Ibrahim (Entrepreneur); Sekinat Shopitan (Project Officer); Rizqah Fesojaiye (Education Officer); and Kafayah Abdulwahab (Communication Officer).
Egba Zone
Egba Zone’s has Hajia Sekinat AbdulRaheem and Hajia Halimah Hamza as its new Amirah and Naibatul Amirah respectively. Hajia Islamiyah Osho was similarly named Secretary.
Other appointments include, Nafisah Ajala (Da’wah Officer); Hafsah Hassan (Financial Secretary); Zulfah Abdulwahab (Education Officer); Zainab Abdul Razaq (Project and Investment Officer); Muizah Muh’d Thabit (Networking Officer); Dr. Balqis Solate (Welfare Officer); Fausiyyah Abdulkareem (Entrepreneur Officer); Rafia Yusuf (Communication Officer); and Mariam Abdul Salam (Ass. Secretary).
How ex-president will be remembered
The former National Amirah, Alhaja AbdulQuadri ran three consecutive tenures. She was unable to handover after the 9th year due to the unfortunate incident of members who lost their lives in an auto crash on their way to camp in 2022.
The former Amirah during her tenure made remarkable feats that led Al-Mu’minaat to new heights.
She fostered collaborations with international organisations by making Al-Mu’minaat a member of the International Muslim Women Organisation (IMWU). She also initiated the construction of a dedicated women’s centre, a hub for empowerment, education and community engagement.
The former Amirah also started a scholarship scheme that benefited five indigent female pupils in Lagos State. More importantly, she successfully expanded the presence of Al-Mu’minaat to four additional states; Kaduna, Niger, Nasarawa and Benue.
Al-Mu’minaat now also have a presence in Benin Republic. Hajia AbdulQuadri was also reputed to have introduced the idea of online tarbiyyah. The organisation also led impactful humanitarian projects under her leadership, especially medical and educational outreach, borehole provision to underserved communities, among others.

The new Amirah, Alhaja Abdulhameed has assured that her administration will always uphold the principles of the organisation towards achieving aims and objectives.
The pledge was made while speaking with Muslim News after the inauguration, saying the mission was to empower Muslim women and build a strong Muslim ummah for sustainable development through education, welfare and self-actualisation.
Speaking further, Alhaja Abdulhameed, said, “Our vision is to be inter-pares among all Muslim women’s organisations in the country.
She disclosed that the most advanced technology in building Muslim women, who are not only religiously conscious but also economically, socially and politically comparable to some other self-actualised women in any part of the globe, would be deployed.
Amirah emphasised that the new cabinet members from the grassroots to the national level will continue to collaborate with organisations that cater for the welfare of females (women and children) towards bringing about a saner clime.
Alhaja AbdusSalam holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Building YABATECH and a Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Maritime Administration at University of Lagos (UNILAG).
She works as an Assistant Director with Lagos State Building Control Agency. Alhaja AbdusSalam is a certified Builder with the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) and a member of the Guild of Muslim Professionals (GMP).
