Halal Compliance and Food Safety (HaCFoS) in conjunction with MCS INTEGRATED SDN BHD, a Malaysian-based company, has facilitated a Halal Slaughtering Workshop to prepare participants with additional skills and ensure Shariah compliance during Eid-el-Adha activities.
The workshop was held on Sunday, 7th April 2024 at Toro Local Government, Bauchi State and was attended by members of the community who manage the yearly Qurban activities for the organisation.
Mr Abdu Ibrahim, an Animal Scientist who represented HaCFoS emphasized the importance of slaughtering animals according to Islamic principles.
In his brief lecture before the practical session, he highlighted the important procedures that must be followed, most importantly the overall welfare of the animals including proper feeding, proper transportation, and relaxation of the animals as encouraged by Islam and animal welfare groups.
The participants were made to witness the practical session where the steps in slaughtering the animals were properly explained to the participants. This is to ensure spiritually and hygienically acceptable animals during the festive period.
Participants could not hide their excitement, as the workshop complemented their skills and help the community ensure compliance with the slaughtering of animals during and after the festive period.
