Sheikh Muhyideen Bello

The Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi Central Mosque, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, Oyo State has said that the death of prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello, is a big blow to them.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Chairman of the Central Mosque Management Committee, Alhaji Murisiku Abidemi Siyanbade, the late renowned Muslim scholar was described as a great pillar of support to the mosque.

The Chairman said he was loyal to their late principal, former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi, even in death.

“It came as a shock to us, suddenly in the morning of Friday, December 6, 2024, when the sad news started flying around about the death of our Baba Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello. What a blow!

“Baba Muhyideen Bello remained loyal and committed to our leader, late former Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Senator Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi, even in death.”

Alhaji Murisiku said the late Sheikh was second to none, and had been consistent with his first Ramadan lecture at Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi Central Mosque.

“When Governor Ajimobi died in 2020, Baba Muhyideen Bello asked that I come over to see him. At that meeting, he promised that, as long as he lived, he would dedicate the first day of Ramadan every year for Ajimobi Memorial Ramadan Lecture.

“Since 2021, Baba consistently did his first Ramadan Lecture at Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi Central Mosque every year, up till this year – such a display of commitment and loyalty.

“Baba was wonderful. In fact, he had already informed me to start planning for March 1, 2025 Ramadan Lecture. He was second to none.”

The Chairman, who said it was difficult to come to terms with Sheikh Ajani’s death, prayed that Allah would accept his return and grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

“From Allah we came and to Him we shall all return. It is difficult to come to terms with this reality.

“May Almighty Allah accept his return and grant him the best of barzakh and ultimately, Jannat-ulFirdaws.

“May Allah also give the families he left behind, both his biological and we, the extension, the fortitude to bear this big, irreparable loss.”
