In a demonstration of the saying that seeking knowledge from cradle to the grave is compulsory for every Muslim, Professor Tajudeen Yusuf, a professor of Risk Management and Insurance at the University of Lagos has completed the memorisation of the Noble Qur’an.
The good news was announced by Dr. AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef, a renowned Muslim preacher and founder of Khalwatu Tanzeel, a Lagos-based center for Arabic Studies and Memorisation of Qur’an.
He posted on his Facebook, on Monday, “Join me in celebrating Professor Tajudeen Yusuf as he completed the memorization of the Glorious Qur’an. Congratulations Yah Haafiz Al-Qur’an.
“Dear Prof and Haafiz, in spite of your busy schedule you completed your memorization of the Glorious Qur’an. May Allah bless your knowledge and make it hujjah for you and not against you. We are proud of your resilience, steadfastness and love for the Book of Allah. JazaakumuLlahu khairan,” he added.
Muslim News gathered that the inspiring news emerged barely days after Prof Tajudeen’s son, Abdullah bagged a first class (distinction) from the University of Lagos, with an impressive CGPA 4.92, to emerge the Best Graduating Student from both the Department of Islamic Studies and the entire Faculty of Arts.
Interestingly, Abdullah, just like his father, is also an Haafiz, a memoriser of the Qur’an. While his son finished from Khalwatu Tanzeel, Prof Yusuf has a personal dedicated teacher who took him through stages of memorisation of the Noble Qur’an.
Prof Yusuf, who is also the President of the Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (IIFP), Nigeria has recently expressed concerns over the poor relationship the Muslims, especially professionals, have with the Qur’an.
The latest Haafiz and one of the Imams of University of Lagos Central Mosque made the observation at a recent annual convention of the Guild of Muslim Professionals (GMP) held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
He urged Muslim professionals to dedicate little time out of their daily busy schedule to the reading and memorisation of the Noble Qur’an.
