It was a memorable day for Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, and his wife, Dr. Rashidat Salisu, as they hosted the Ogun State chapter of Green Sisters of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, to a special Ramadan get-together held at their Abeokuta home.

It was one of several engagements lined up for the distinguished Senator and his family on Saturday, 22nd March.

Muslim News gathered that the Shuaib Salisu family had earlier hosted another female group and afterwards attended the Ogun State Government’s Ramadan Lecture/Iftar programme held at the Governor’s Office, Abeokuta.

As part of the get-together, Senator Salisu invited his longtime friend and former Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan as the guest speaker.

Alhaji Hassan and his entourage were warmly welcomed with Islamic supplicatory songs popularly known as waka by the female wing.

The guest lecturer expressed happiness to being in the gathering of successful and pious women while thanking Allah for making the distinguished Senator a committed advocate of Islam, even though many of his contributions remain unpublicized.

He reflected on their over 40-year-old friendship, highlighting a key principle that has, by Allah’s grace, sustained their bond and ability to overlook each other’s shortcomings.

Building on this theme, he emphasized to the Green Sisters that overlooking one another’s faults is even greater than forgiveness, as it prevents one from dwelling on offences in the first place.

He encouraged them to use this sacred month to seek Allah’s mercy and pardon and strengthen their bonds by embodying this spirit of understanding and mutual support.

Ultimately, he reminded them that their unity and care for one another would aid them in their journey towards Jannah.
